Full Version: Searching a Player Displays ID

Explain your suggestion, in detail:
When a player is detained and you search them you should be able to automatically grab their ID (as in /showid) without the need for them to run the command or do so via the context menu.

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented:
I've had many experiences were players will refuse to show an ID even when detained which can be weird when warranting their ID number as their IC name is then displayed over the radio. When they're detained their ID should be easily obtainable to determine who they are (such as when wearing masks) and see if they have any government passes especially when they refuse to cooperate.

Unless it supports the ability that someone doesn't have their ID on them.

Then everyone would simply not have an ID on them. You already have to metagame to get a warrant on a player that gives a fake name/refuses to display an ID even when subdued, detained, and under fearrp. I'm all for RPing it out but players tend to take advantage of this.

There should be a way to issue a John Doe warrant then.
In real life, if you refuse to give your real name, you are arrested and sent to court as a john doe to be charged with your original reasons, at which point you either say your name which then gets verified or you are held in contempt of court.

In game, If I have reason to believe someone has committed a crime and they don't offer an ID or a proper name I just arrest them as a John Doe and let the "justice" system figure out who it is.

I’m all for realism, but once you’re in handcuffs, you’re 9/10 times going to get an arrest warrant and go to jail. We don’t have booking, courts, or a DA, so it isn’t necessary to do the whole John Doe procedure. Some things should just be simple.

It’s always been the case that if you’re in handcuffs, you’re automatically ID’ed (hence why masks come off when cuffed). Might as well add the IC element.

If Gungranny thinks it's unnecessary, it must be too convoluted

Some people like to roleplay without an ID
Could consider having a 'lantern device' which is a finger print scanner used in British policing which gives police the suspects Name, DoB and any priors or warrants? Thats if they refuse to give ID etc....

However, relating to your suggestion i would say + Support, can come very handy when dealing with suspects especially if you believe they are not giving the correct information.
