Why not? It's a roleplay server, no?

The issue is that people don't know how to roleplay.

Being the victim isn’t supposed to be the fun experience. Neither is being robbed or being in jail. Yes it is a RP server. And RP’s don’t always go in someone’s desired direction.
Server has been cops and robbers for a while. Unless we make major changes we wont be able to stop that. Plenty in mind, but most would sway us towards a more serious rp like approach. And it would require an economy wipe. Economy is pretty much fucked.
Economy wipe isn't a bad idea tbh. Just dropping the market off the map and making only usable items (Contraband, food, ammo, etc) that are commonly used should STAY on the market. Stuff like Kevlar, Petrol Cans, and Toolbxoes should be switched to job specific markets for saleable items to keep their jobs relevant. This is just a summary of the idea I have. I can go into detail if anyone wants to know.

And what's wrong with us going Serious RP? We already enforce our rules more seriously than some Serious RP servers and we ENCOURAGE that level of RP when possible. Why let a silly title stop us when all it does is adds a majority of positives?

Strict gun laws do not help in real life or in Limelight, pallio. Whenever I'm president I throw out some very lax gun laws similar to the non-commie U.S. states and everyone is too busy jerking off to their guns to shoot people. It causes more community activity and the only ones affected are the power hungry cops that think all guns should be illegal and get upsetti they can't arrest everyone for it. Also, the strict gun laws just encourage more shootouts on LL because criminals have a reason to run from the cops. If they're gonna get arrested for 15 minutes just for possession, they might as well try their luck at gunning down the cops and getting away with it.

I have my ways, you have yours. I believe they do help, in a small fashion but still. People, with or without strict gun laws, will gun down cops and get away with it.

Because people on here don't use /mes and /its nearly enough for that, and microphone use is enabled - which completely removes immersion. Also doesn't help when people RP as though they haven't already been handcuffed.
When people are not in a government role their one objective is cash (generally), considering passiveRP makes you piss all cash it’s understandable people will choose AggroRP over Passive

Also I don’t believe the player base has the capacity to function as an seriousRP server, with exceptions of about 150 players

But that isn’t serious RP? There are plenty of Serious RP servers that are successful that require the bare minimum of RP skills to be on them. So, in reality we really shouldn’t have a tag. Just be called City RP so we can add good content and not be limited by a stupid title.

How does player count factor in what a Serious RP server does?

I mentioned nothing of player count, what I meant when I said that was the majority of the player base won’t understand how to role play to level of SeriousRP

It is Serious Roleplay. Reference Taco 'N' Banana, Ethereal Networks, etc. 100% of all actions in roleplay are done with /me, /it and admin /ev (event), and are performed in vivid - sometimes excessive - detail. Hearing someone moan over their microphone about how they've been perforated by 20 odd bullets definitely doesn't make the 'serious' cut, especially when a 30-ish looking man has the voice of a teenager. That in itself removes any aspect of immersion - which is the goal of serious roleplay in the first place.

As said before, they don't need to. If you go to other RP servers like City RP, you'll see they're more or less the same level of seriousness. At most, the "Serious RP" title is there for their systems (Which are usually complex). I'd see no reason for us to just call ourselves Serious RP or just remove the level altogether

Then why do servers have Serious RP on their titles if they don't accurately portray these standards? Does that mean the tag has no real meaning?
I simply see this argument and limited content not being a problem if we simply just goto "CityRP". It's such an easy fix and there are literally no drawbacks other than people not knowing what level of RP they're supposed to be at.

There are some of your suggestions in this thread, for example training police, whitelisting police etc. - personally I would love to see such systems implemented into the gamemode, but the playerbase simple wouldn't cope, you have to remember a very large chunk of the player base is below 15 (hence why a lot of SERIOUS rp servers have an age limit), who would rather run around minted and armed to the teeth than roleplay passively. Which is also why I doubt a police whitelist system would work as a lot of people don't have the patience to sit through training, they want to play as a cop so they should be able to. If they fail to do their job properly the chief has a /demote command for a reason, if they fail to do their job to the point where RP is being disrupted then staff can step in.

We shouldn't be restricted to what content we add based on a tag, granted. It is Limelight's server, therefore it is up to Limelight to interpret Semi-Serious in their own way. Although I do agree removing any tag full stop would solve a lot of problems.

This is gonna sound kinda fucked up but I think we should force people to verify their age before allowing them ti use Kevlar and heavy weaponry, this will increase the server's playability loads.
