That part of the rule is simply a description of the job. In the gamemode, the SS follow the president's orders and the president has the rights to demote them as well (not really how it works IRL).

As I understand that part of the rule, it's not really a punishable part of the rule. If the SS don't follow your orders, you can demote them, I don't imagine staff would ever get involved there.

Note
  • 11.4 - You may kill/injure other government members, but only if they are an immediate threat to your life, the lives of innocent people, or if it is your only valid option while on-duty. Do not injure/kill for revenge, personal gain, grudges, etc. The Secret Service may never attack the president.

If it's not punishable, it shouldn't be part of the rules.
That just adds to bulk and makes it harder to read for new players.
*shrug* I wasn't the one making the rules when that was made and didn't feel the need to change it cause I think it serves its purpose in describing the job's purpose and differences from its irl counterpart.

The main reason I am making this suggestion is because it is being enforced. I have been spoken to by about it in the past and a few other staff members as that is what the rule states.

Coup d'etat can happen everywhere. Not just Zimbabwe. If thee police want to overthrow the president then they can, while they'e not military, it is the same sort of thing.

Come back to me when Montgomery PD overthrow Trump.

Dictatorship RPs last a matter of seconds before the entire PD moves in on the president. I don't remember General Franco being arrested by Madrid police.

Coups are scarce in the West and even then you won't see one carried out by city or even state police.

They are scare in the west and your correct. It's a last line in rockford too. It can still can happen. I'm leaving it there.

See, the reason so many Dictator RPs fail so quickly is that they aren't done right. I have successfully been a dictator for many hours (during populated hours). The Dictator needs to ease everyone into it, and in the process ensure that his forces are loyal. If you take Office, then immediately go full on Dictator (which is what happens 99% of the time), you're going to get shot, and your body is going to get thrown off the cliff into the ocean.

I feel that by keeping this rule as is it further encourages sloppy Presidential RP. Agents need the ability to say no to a President's orders without getting in trouble for violating a key rule.

I'm sure General Franco eased into it. Civil wars are very smooth transitions.

although i wouldnt see much of a chance exspecially since the president can still demote anyone including the SS. And therefore regardless of who is technicly in command a secret service agent career still depends on his relationship with the president which will be dependent on wether or not he would oppose presidential orders or favors.
Afterall i dont see much of a change
The biggest problem is when you’re trying to pre-plan the president’s movement and he doesn’t allowyou to prepare. He will most of the time go “I’m going to the lake now! Unblock the lift or I demote you.” I feel in these situations it is best to have the President AND VP have to agree to demote someone. Kind of like a demotion request. You send one in and both the President and VP must accept it. Once the person is demoted, they respawn as a citizen on their demoted position.

There has to be at least one team which would never turn against the president. Otherwise dictator RP will most likely never happen again and he could just demote all of his SS to get his own, loyal agents.

Which would allow for a Corrupt Official to hire a PMC to be his security that operates out of lawful jurisdiction! I love the RP idea!

If you RP a dictatorship well, you won't be taken down by the Police.
CGPGrey has made a couple of good videos on the subject.
