Explain your suggestion, in detail
Allow for people to store firearms in their vehicles. This can be done two ways:
1) All vehicles have the ability to store on single firearm.
2) Every vehicle has its unique inventory space and each firearm takes up space depending on its size.

Storing/Taking out a firearm in the takes a while (5-15 seconds depending on its size)
Select vehicles may be able to purchase an upgrade (a firearm holder) which decreases how much time is needed to store/take out a firearm. Government vehicles could be possibly pre-equipped with one.
Also maybe a way to search vehicles for firearms, or a quicker way to see if there are visible guns (maybe depending on size).

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented:
This could allow for better roleplay by both the government and criminals as people are given the choice of being more "stealthy" something that has almost become extinct since the "Weapon on the back" update was introduced. It gives criminals more ways to work hide their operations and the government more things to check for. It also allows officers to carry a long firearm with them without having it on them at all times, resulting on a more passive roleplaying being done without them being seen too aggressive.

tl;dr
its realistic, allows for better roleplay for everyone. allows for things being a bit more passive while at the same time, it is a buff for aggresiveRP.

Note: this may have been suggested before but I can neither find one on the approved section or using the search function.

+ support, this could work maybe but it might be very hard to code

I imagine Police storing their main firearms in their car so they can go grab it later if needed, which I think sounds like a cool thing!

PERP has it already
Perhaps there should be some sort of drawback to constantly carrying your main firearm (e.g AR 15 or Benelli). For example, perhaps you move slower or your stamina depletes quicker. Something small like that just to make storing them actually worth doing. Smile

There is already the drawback when you are trying to ticket someone with an AR-15 on your back.

I don't share your thought that 8 pounds in hand has that significant impact on performance, considering that long arms can be equipped with slings, where the weight is held from the core rather than just by arms/hands.
I tried setting this up a few months ago (https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-17257.html), but feedback was given that some think it'll OP the government when it comes to police vs. criminal situations.
Nothing can be less true, as it's nothing different from a criminal being able to push an AR-15 or M3 shotgun out of their ass and us being able to grab said firearms from a vehicle we just stored it in just so we don't have to sling it around us all the time. It's basically only for visual/realistic purposes as the majority of times, you don't see police officers patrolling around with an AR or shotgun slung around them.

As such, and because I tried making this suggestion before and thank you greatly for trying to push it for suggestions again, massive +support.

I know I don't only speak for myself when I say I don't want to walk around looking like Rambo all the time when it's that easy to just make something so we can store an AR or shotgun into our patrol vehicles.

Weight is not the only factor. Size in particular would heavily impact maneuverability more than weight ever would. I certainly would bet I am more mobile without having to both my arms occupied holding a firearm. Last time I checked Limelight does not have a sling attachment, so that statement makes little sense.

+support  for core suggestion and a handicap or some sort while holding long arms in order to encourage its use.

I was referring to just carrying your large firearm in general, be it in hands or on back. For the sake of gameplay though, why would I even consider storing my firearm in my cruiser if I can take it wherever I want without it hindering my mobility whilst on foot?

Last time I checked, I wasn't able to hold an AR-15 up to my chest with just my right nipple. Just because the playermodel doesn't show a sling, it shouldn't imply there isn't any. If there wasn't any, the /weppos would have no meaning whatsoever.
