While there were some concerns, and still are in some places, he said that if there were enough interested people in mapping, a subforum could be created for us to collaborate together. While this is in no way an "official" team, so long as we aren't asking for money, and have sufficient rights to create and protect such a map from theft, we could get a green light.
That being said, the map could change to Evo or whatever, based on community / staff decisions/votes, so in the meantime we should do two things.
1: If you are a person interested in collaborating to map edit, speak up so we can start a working list to justify our need for such a subfourm. We also need to determine the rough exact scope of our project, which the first section of scope would be simply removing the problematic or gameplay restricting map props, fixing map gaps or known issues that can be fixed, and minor terrain edits to take back some of that less than usable space, till we break down to a map that can be used as a foundation to work up from, into real additions to the maps features and functionality.
2: The community and staff need to sort out which map is the map for this community, hopefully prior to the map interested people in starting such a collaboration.
Keep in mind, we will not be official team in any capacity, as far as I am aware. We are not going to be paid for this work. We need to be dedicated to this work within reason (don't sacrifice your life for it, but don't remove a single prop and discontinue contributions.
If you are interested in editing the Rockford map (be it for personal or community), the terms, conditions, and files can be found here.https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1457326
If you are interested in changing maps, you are in the wrong thread, please go get that ball rolling so that the map editing users can find the proper files and permissions to edit the map.
I think ur idea is great. Only problem with Rockford is that it is at 99% brush limit, so if you were to add something then you would need to remove quite a lot of shit which is time consuming and really not worth it as quite a few people don't even like the map yet still some do, so maybe it will have a small purpose if any at all. I think we need to start thinking of alternative maps either being new or from the workshop.

Firstly, editing the map atm I have found will most likely be pointless as other projects are in works to fix the map problem. Secondly, there is almost no such thing as a mapping team in the LL team itself, so that will probably be pointless. Within the coming year, new additions may be added to Rockford but the team have other ideas with the mapping problem such as map cycles etc. Altogether, the LL team aren't really doing anything mapping wise, (from what I've seen), and if they are then work bloody quicker , just look out in the soon future for map related things... as there is a project in the works.
You have at least three members within this community that are known to have some degree of ability / talent with map editing. I've been in contact with one and was linked to the .vmf and the prop files for the rockford map, which makes the editing a bit easier. I'm sorting out my model content to finish cleaning out the errors, then I'll be tinkering on Rockford as well.
The issue now seems that even if either/both of us create a revised map, it's highly likely that the map will not be used. After discussing this matter with an administrator, the main thing seems to be that using a custom map will further decrease our influx of newer players. Though I have come up with how to impliment the revised version, I seriously doubt it will be employed over moving to a more common, unedited map.
Also, a mapping team would be greatly beneficial to the community, as if we had a few of us willing to collaborate, the results would be amazing. There are plenty of other communities that have their own maps and mapping teams that have had much success. The thing they have that we don't isn't the mappers, it's having a map that the community agrees on. In our case, there is seemingly a split between the community over Rockford and Evocity2. Hopefully they can get this issue resolved so that people like us, who are willing to work on the project, actually can without completely wasting our time.
I'm not a pro at hammer, I just opened it for the first time the other day, but most of what I want to do with the map is pretty simple to do, as it's pretty point and click when it comes to the prop removal. Perhaps WE, us like minded and interested people, can BECOME the mapping team. I volenteer to be at the bottom of the totem pole on that team.

I pushed into another thread discussing the map and am trying to get them to get up a vote so that we can be better prepared.
As for this brush limit, I'm not sure exactly what that is. I'm sure if it's something that was put in, we can work on reducing or removing chunks of it. I'm sure there is some way to make it work, though I'd prefer if we didn't HAVE to work on it where we could avoid it by moving to a more "friendly" map for what we wanna do.
Could you identify the unofficial "team" related to mapping so we can get that working list going?
Yes, brush limits can be reduced and it can be modified, it just would take a lot of time.
I could get a list of name but considering we are still sorting shit, not right now.

Well, Rockford or EvoCity even Paralake was known due to their features and usage in specific game modes. How did EvoCity become known? Was it known when it first came out? Audience doesn't appear out of no where, it's created and if a custom map was made that suits a player's every need, with the usage of it, it will be a known map as well. It takes time though.

I cannot tell if you are actually interested or just making jokes, Midget.. Could you clearly state if you are or are not interested?
As for not providing a list because of us still sorting it out, that isn't helpful to what we are trying to do here, so I suppose you can keep them in your pocket so we don't have to even consider worrying about them. If they want to step forward they can. I'm actually interested in working on this project and not just playing forum games about the topic.
What do you mean "if you are actually interested"? Consdiering I have made serveral threads about creating a custom map which can be found here: https://limelightgaming.net/forums/showt...p?tid=8917 & https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-8981.html . So yes ofc I am interesting.
