Rockford was really not what people were expecting according to the majority players

Evidently the majority of players enjoy Rockford, too. If they didn't, we wouldn't have had a rise in our playerbase/active players online (50-65) so shortly after we made the switch.

You can't fix something that is not broken. Only thing that is being done is improving an already good map.

Quite strange that a poll on changing to evocity is at 50/16 (or was in the last couple days) then?

It isn't my problem that the majority of players voted for Rockford in the first place. I am also not going to go into further discussion as my reply was based on ''Rockford was really not what people were expecting''.
I personally like Rockford. With its love to detail yet balance, so even potato computers can somehow run it, i personally rate it as the best rp map.
Changing a map around isn't easy, either. You can't just put the gma into an editor. Most of them are locked.
can you switch it to evocity and rename it rockford?

Firstly, editing the map atm I have found will most likely be pointless as other projects are in works to fix the map problem. Secondly, there is almost no such thing as a mapping team in the LL team itself, so that will probably be pointless. Within the coming year, new additions may be added to Rockford but the team have other ideas with the mapping problem such as map cycles etc. Altogether, the LL team aren't really doing anything mapping wise, (from what I've seen), and if they are then work bloody quicker , just look out in the soon future for map related things... as there is a project in the works.

Me and Project was going to work on a custom map dedicated to limelight's needs. Although hasn't been touched recently due to personal issues, a custom map may never even be used by Limelight due to not being created by an "professional" mapper.
Rockford is slightly harder to modify due to almost breaking the map limits meaning not a lot can be added in its vanilla state but you could remove a lot. Although Evocity has a lot for improvements and can be modified a lot.
Maps to Limelight are nothing huge. Any map can keep the server going really but after awhile both maps can get boring. There is no mapping team since they don't need one.

You have at least three members within this community that are known to have some degree of ability / talent with map editing. I've been in contact with one and was linked to the .vmf and the prop files for the rockford map, which makes the editing a bit easier. I'm sorting out my model content to finish cleaning out the errors, then I'll be tinkering on Rockford as well.
The issue now seems that even if either/both of us create a revised map, it's highly likely that the map will not be used. After discussing this matter with an administrator, the main thing seems to be that using a custom map will further decrease our influx of newer players. Though I have come up with how to impliment the revised version, I seriously doubt it will be employed over moving to a more common, unedited map.
Also, a mapping team would be greatly beneficial to the community, as if we had a few of us willing to collaborate, the results would be amazing. There are plenty of other communities that have their own maps and mapping teams that have had much success. The thing they have that we don't isn't the mappers, it's having a map that the community agrees on. In our case, there is seemingly a split between the community over Rockford and Evocity2. Hopefully they can get this issue resolved so that people like us, who are willing to work on the project, actually can without completely wasting our time.
I'm not a pro at hammer, I just opened it for the first time the other day, but most of what I want to do with the map is pretty simple to do, as it's pretty point and click when it comes to the prop removal. Perhaps WE, us like minded and interested people, can BECOME the mapping team. I volenteer to be at the bottom of the totem pole on that team.
I believe a team would be great and if there is going to be one I would gladly join. About you being at the bottom of the totem pole, as you only just opened hammer a couple days ago I wouldn't believe that to be the best choice but I'm sure if there was a team there would be a place for everyone who is into and is dedicated to mapping
