You see, we dont have beast PC's like you, I have around 8fps when LL has 40people, if i start recording i will have 4 and that's a problem.

I don't have a good PC, I have a Dell laptop lmao. It was just a suggestion for people with good PC's.

Thats rude to dell
It's impossible to record with my computer. That is why I record only when there is no staff online. When admin joins to the server, I turn the recording off.
I mean I understand Limelight has always handpicked their staff and most likely always will, but if you look at the most popular communities they have active staff, not necessarily because it's easier to get staff - but because people can apply for staff and put themselves out there. I can think of a dozen people worthy of Moderator and would do a damn good job, but Limelight's procedures would make it take months for these people to become staff.

Another issues is how long it takes inactive staff to be dealt with. Take a look at Mahti, not saying he was a bad staff member, but it took months for his inactive to cause him to get demoted. MONTHS. He was on for maybe 20 hours over a 6 month period, I understand he has a life, as do other staff members but to the extreme where they cant even clock on 5-6 hours a week? That's just stupid. Again I understand staff are allowed leave, but maybe this should be made public information so we know who is supposed to be online and who cannot be online? Hell maybe having a roster saying "You must be on from 6-8 on a Monday, you from 3-4 on a Tuesday etc" may be the solution

If LL changed the way it selects it's staff members and deals with inactive staff then I can easily see the issue of under-staffing and inactive staff being dealt with very quickly.

If we allow people to apply for staff people will be disappointed and leave the community.

Some people won't understand the concept of "saying no now doesn't mean no forever" by that I mean if we deny anyone's applications people will think its denied for ever and won't have another chance, that and people and their friends will leave or hate the community just because their friend didn't get accepted and someone they dislike did or something as silly as that.

The reason we pick players is because we know what we need and what kind of personalities suit this role, Its not easy to pick either, and there isn't just 1 spot for mod, there are almost endless spots, so if one guy gets promoted doesn't mean that's it he got it no one else will.

I can't say that promotions are a complicated thing, honestly its quite a simple thing but its the players we review that often mess up while we are reviewing them etc. There isn't a lot to promotions if I'm honest there's just time to it, it takes a while to look up and review players and sometimes its for the best, we see how they react and act to different situations.

I can't say that an application system is good or bad without trying it though, and I'm all for trying new things ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) but I'm not so sure about this.

5-6 hours can be a lot of time for people. Especially now that school started, you can't expect staff to all be able to put in the time. If we had enough staff that maybe 1 or 2 could be active during peak hours, that would be good. But a time requirement isn't. I'm only a Freshman in High School, but an hour a day during school days is a lot some nights. It's the difference between being able to study and not studying at all.

Additionally, having required time slots is a bad idea. We can't expect staff to always have freetime at x,y, and z time. Life doesn't work like that.

I am well aware, then maybe instead of making the current staff more active bring in additional staff?

Except that isn't always the case, take myself, Project and Sours. We all got denied from Teacher, myself and Project more than once - yet that never drove us away, Sours applied again and got it as did Project, and I was uh, forced to leave rather than departing voluntarily.

I know there are a couple of threads out there, yet they don't actually reveal much about how Moderators are chosen, isn't this something you guys could be more transparent with?
oh of course there will always be loyal and good players that stick around but I'm just talking about most and not all. Its not always going to happen its just more likely to happen.
Sundays alot of staff are on, its usually just the weekdays because everyone has stacks of homework and have no time to play / administrate unless they want a detention wich still wouldn't enable them to play. Either way homework sucks.

lol any that actually attend their detentions is bent.

Anyways, like I said recruiting more staff would make it easier to moderate the server.

What about you guys being more transparent with how people get Mod or how people would go about putting themselves out there to get it?

Why don't you guys accept recommendations from the playerbase? look who is popular amongst the players, for example , then once a person has x amount of players recommending them or once a staff member suggests them in the admin forums start reviewing them for a moderator role?
