Unfortunately this is against the German constitution.

Why is mobilization of the armed forces to protect the homeland against the constitution, lol. Who is gonna protect the people when the power of the police is overwhelmed.

As far as I've seen, the police are using water cannons, CS gas, batons, and similar stuff to stop the rioters. That's not overwhelming force when the rioters are setting vehicles on fire.

I have a friend in Hamburg, and he explained that they burn and destroy small shops if they haven't put up signs saying they are against G20.

This looks like the Purge, if the subtitle was Apocalypse x200

That is 100% not true.

Problem this that the police itself actually helped to let the situation escalate. The force is acting extreme aggressive already since the start.

He's not a very good English speaker, but after checking it up on LiveLeak and on thelocal.de, I see that shop owners put up signs saying "No G20" in hope that it will protect their shop against rioters.

Well, since when does brute force actually resolve problems?
IMHO they should press charges against most of them and the left should firmly condemn the riots.

Germany sent its Special Response Units and thats really all the Government is capable of really. There was a discussion once if Germany can use the german Army for issues in the country. No idea what became of it.

The City is starting to clean up first areas today.

Well, I agree though that they acted like idiots. Rioting in my opinion only justifies the other party's actions.
However, my biggest concern in using such an item is that peaceful protesters may be caught in the crossfire, that's what I meant to say. If you can use such tools by focusing only on the rioters, go ahead.
Also, do you agree that the rioters should be sentenced to also clear the mess they made?

The Mayor has told the Media that the rioters that are identified will face a sentence.

Peaceful protesters shouldn't've been hiding armed shooters and if they don't try to hide them, you can't really stop law enforcement. An active shooter is gonna get a bullet, like it or not. Those protesters have gotten this far with all the riot officers have used so far. If they're still there, they're taking the risk.

What do you mean? I agree if it's possible that they arrest all the rioters, but realistically that isn't possible. From what I see, it's open warrant season in Hamburg.

Mostly the "black block" (the rioters) where at the front of the huge demonstrations. The police tried to seperate them and totally failed with that, that leaded to this escelation directly on the first day. Much peaceful protesters got attacked from the police for only sitting on the street. The peaceful protesters never hided any "armed shooters". The police is just acting extreme aggressive against every kind of protest, me for myself already had to feel that as I live there. I am not defending the rioters in any way, but what the police is doing is not right too.
