(Aug 4, 2016, 11:49 PM)George Wrote: [ -> ]I was thinking a Tanoa Life server on ARMA III.

Tanoa Life has been tried, serious roleplay communities have nobody playing them and the exception could be made for something like A3L, ideally what you could try and see how this goes but as far as how the system of medics etc and gathering a lot of unique skins would take some time and a lot of preparation.

A Tanoa Life server I play on maxes out its 100 player slot limit every day. Another Tanoa life even maxes out on 235 players. Nobody playing on them?

We're talking the two biggest communities in the UK and the EU whereas you're probably Asylum or something alongside the modded ones which gain a lot of popularity.

The one I play on uses no mods and only started up a month or so ago. They only have about 60-70 members signed up on their forum but still get a lot of people joining.
Any gamemode within Arma 3 I think would be great with these community! Whether it be either Wasteland or something like CityRP remade into Arma then I think it would work very well! With base building etc in the game, I would be great fun tbh!
There's not even enough players to fill up 2 servers, yet the funds are being flushed down the shitter.

Let alone expand.

Minecraft was a complete flop after a week as well, just as any project here

I get that being demoted has annoyed you but going around like the kid who gave no fucks at school won't bode well for you.

Minecraft was a flop because it was not created the way staff wanted it. They had a modpack that was not right for how they desired the server to be. Hence why things are being done.

How does CityRP 2 get new players? I mean, I am sure we do not need to have Garry's Mod players just to get more on another game such as Arma 3 etc.

Every new map or attempt to bring in more players has failed miserably. There's literally no denying that.
So don't tell me what I can and can't say. This is completely relevant to this thread.

Stay on topic.

Indeed there has been failed attempts but can you really criticise a community for constantly exploring new ways to bring in more players and are at least trying to expand the services it provides.

Also, it's not like the recent updates haven't resulted in more players being on the servers. I think this month's membership total can attest to that.

I'd say you couldn't be farther off on that statement. The launch of the US server was rough but after Rockford launched we'd get a steady 30 players on the server throughout the night. The reason that failed was due to constant map 'updates' that the creator would push and result in compatibility issues. We eventually had to down the server until the map was fixed and it hasn't recovered since that.

Funds are being used to pay developers and as a result updates have been getting pushed faster than ever. The card events have helped give a boost to the available development budget. We push either a new update or bug fix almost daily now.

I do feel we need to start putting funds towards advertising as a way of expanding our reach rather than attempting to pull from our current playerbase (such as the Minecraft server did).
I hate to say it, but Maniac is right. Every attempt has failed either due to lack of support from staff, or broken game mechanics. I don't really see how Maniac had to be labeled as acting like a kid in this thread.

Although for the first few months US Rockford had dev support. That was the only successful time.

Maniac wasnt labeled as acting as a kid only due to his bahavior in this thread, but due to his behavior on the forums since he was demoted.

The US Rockford server has always had dev support. The reason we had to drop the server for some time was due to compatibility issues with the map. The map creator would constantly overwrite the old workshop version with a new one leading to constant 'Map Missing' errors. During this time we lost the US playerbase that was going on the server and have never gained it back.

Stop being such a meanie
Trying new things is always best. Why stay on one game, gamemode, map etc when we could try to move on to new things! Games such as Arma, great game mechanics for rp!

They fail, sure but that is because we try new things. Minecraft failed because it had no development with staff having no idea how to run a minecraft server.
