It's not
Minecraft?
Dumbest statement ever. It's not Grand Theft Auto either, nor is it Sims 4. It's Garry's Mod, a sandbox game mode and this community runs an
RPG based game-mode, which means that we should be able to role-play in ways that we could IRL. To me, this means having a skill system and crafting system as the basic framework of the game-mode, as suggested and related to my post about Removing the F1 Jobs and creating a player-based economy. That suggestion can be seen and voted on by clicking
'here'
Maybe the idea is too complicated for you, maybe you prefer not having anything
real and
productive to do and would rather sit in a store and pretend to have fun using
/me and
/it. I personally have no interest in the game because to me, it seems like that is all it has become. There have been several suggestions made to change how things are and yet there is still a sizable number of people who oppose them. These suggestions are there to change the game-mode rather than add onto them. Adding cars, motorcycles, weapons and additional items are just part of the aesthetic skin of the game and don't really impact how the game-mode is. It'll still be the dull game-mode that it is.
Take a step back and look at the game-mode for what it really is. What is the
purpose of it? What is there to do besides earn
RPP or to simply try and earn money, despite the fact that you know you will spend countless hours doing tedious tasks only to face the fact that someone who spends a couple bucks on money-packs will make what could've taken you hours to earn. And on the topic of earning IG money, there is only a few ways and they are, for the most part, illegal. Woodcutting seems to be the only passive way to make money, but even then there is a large number of AggressiveRP surrounding it. Let's say you get rich. However it happened, you've made around $2,000,000. This would take a while considering you were a person who didn't spend money for IG money. What is there to do with it? Spend hundreds of thousands on aesthetic things such as suits and cars or simply buying up pockets to expand your inventory? There is really nothing else that can be bought. Maybe that is the problem. There is just a limitation on what money gets you, bringing forth a lack of fulfillment.
So what can be done? How can the game-mode truly be brought to a whole new level? It'll take extreme community involvement. Everyone needs to voice their opinions on suggestions as well as their concerns. Ideas will die down or get declined because people didn't voice their support and those who opposed it were quick to vote against it.
IMO: The following needs to be done before the game-mode will truly stand out and bring back my interest.
Quote:1. Remove F1 Jobs
As explained throughout this suggestion, this would mark the start of a player driven economy where everyone has the ability to become who they want. You won't need to press F1 and switch to a Chef in order to sell food or run a restaurant. You won't have to switch jobs to become a Black Market Dealer and sell illegal contraband/items. Instead, you from the beginning can choose who you want your character to be. If you want to be a Chef, you can go and collect the necessary things to run a restaurant. You either go and farm/fish and create an inventory of food to sell or you simply become a restaurant that instead sources the products/food from someone who is selling wholesale. You want to sell BMD goods, you are able to go out and make those items yourself or buy them from someone who already made them and re-sell them with a markup. There shouldn't be these DarkRP limitations on the game-mode and that we had initially seen in the beginning of CityRP. If I want to be a Chef running an illegal business in the back, then I shall do so. We've limited many things with this idea of FailRP and we punish people for things that we consider unrealistic but in reality can be very realistic. Now, removing F1 Jobs doesn't mean we remove the ability to spawn things from the F1 menu all together. There are, of course, still some things that can be spawned for good reason. However, if the time comes where there is an idea or a way to make these things player made, then it shall be done. Things like vehicles should, however, not be player made.
Quote:2. Display Unholstered Weapons
This has been a thing of much controversy but I believe it will benefit the game-mode for the better. Unholstered weapons should be visible on the character model. You shouldn't be able to conceal an AK47 in your back pocket and pull it out at a moments notice to catch someone off surprise. Now, this doesn't mean all weapons will be visible. Knives and small handguns will likely be able to be concealed and not visible, however we should slow down the time it takes to withdraw a weapon. Now this being said, having a weapon carried in the public is sometimes legal, though this would be something determined by the government. This would be an update that would benefit the PassiveRP community and our boys in blue. There is too many times where a cop is up against a heavily armed combatant who is hiding an assault rifle in his suit pocket. #bluelivesmatter
Quote:3. Game-mode Aesthetic Improvement(s)
Pay someone to make a nice looking user-interface for everything. It's taken too long to get a functional F1 menu that isn't an eye sore. The GUI for the armory is MSPaint worthy. Things like this are important when it comes to drawing in new players. Nobody wants to play a game-mode that seems outdated or lacking key functionality, such as the ability to see how much space you have in your inventory.
Quote:4. Skill System
https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-9779.html
I believe this was mentioned in my Removing F1 Job suggestion, however this is an important feature that we need in an RPG. People want the idea that they are doing things not just because they have to but because they are leveling up. People don't play Pokemon GO because it is fun, they want to catch them all. The same idea applies to every game, especially MMORPG's and such. Having the ability to level up certain skills and access new equipment is something that will draw people into the game-mode and make it more interesting. You have to make it so that there is a long road of progress that can be made and not simply leveling all the way up after a few days of hard work.
Quote:5. Property System + Taxes
Temar suggested it a while ago on another community forums. The idea was to make it so when you purchase a door on a property, it will purchase the entirety of the property. Property taxes would also be a thing and depending on the size of the lot, the cost will vary. More can be seen in my Property System suggestion seen by clicking 'here'
Quote:6. Presidential Election System - Government Changes
https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-9812.html
Changing the way you become President to make it more lucrative and engaging. This will expand RP for both the person(s) running for President as well as the community on the server.
Quote:7. Store System changes
https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-9708.html
As mentioned in the suggestion, this makes the game-mode more engaging and expands RP to a whole new level.
