Pretty proud of that.) Enjoy. (Old photo, since then got a dedicated sound card because my motherboard's onboard was terrible, and put the graphics card in the 16x slot instead of the 8x one (derp)) Edit: Sick mousemat RE: Share your potato - Scrotonium - May 2, 2016 (May 2, 2016, 07:37 PM)lods of Wrote: emoneCPU: Intel Core i5 4690K (OC to 4.4Ghz, with an air cooler, while still getting temps no higher than 75 celsius. Pretty proud of that.) No, for one simple reason, convection. The fan on the bottom of the heatsink pulls the hot air upwards from the GPU, and the heat pipes conduct the heat from the CPU, and the heat is then pulled out by the exhaust fan at the top left there. So if anything it's a 2 in one cooling solution sort of thing, as it helps my GPU stay a little cooler as well as my CPU. Stock coolers tend to just be reliant on the fan rather than heat pipes, and commonly the thermal paste is sub-par. This cooler cost me £25 and saved me £100 getting me performance similar to that of an i7 4790k at 3.5Ghz RE: Share your potato - jarz - May 4, 2016 So basically since its a $500 case, I have a good computer under the hood. I have a small processor from Intel, one of their Micro lines, it's pretty rare and for the prong-count it chucks out a pretty impressive 4.5ghz. I have on board MOBO graphics, but I added a GeForce sticker so my fps stays around 144. 4gb of DDR3 RAM with platinum tipped inserts that go into the MOBO. That makes the interaction ratio between the ram and the computer go by so much faster. With that in mind, that makes my computer lighter, which means it's easier to transport from LAN party to LAN party, because I always come in first place and get invited to new ones. I have a 350W power supply, fully modular. No wires are existent in my case, and that's not because of pro cable management, but rather WiFi compatibility with SATA ports and the like. Signals are sent from the PSU to the various components. All of it is controlled by gauges on the front of my rig. I have adapted the Clapper (https://youtu.be/Ny8-G8EoWOw) into my own patented LED light switch. Essentially, I have to clap the theme song to Metal Gear Solid, and the lights turn on. On the outside of my rig, I have magnets and stickers of various obscure computer places such as Tiger Direct. My most notable sticker is the Geek Squad logo, and that certifies me as a legal computer technician. If you weren't impressed enough, I'm the co-founder of Python. I still use the IBM keyboard I used to create the language to this very day. My mouse is a Logitech G502. RE: Share your potato - Stomm - May 4, 2016 Aw jeez, I guess I gotta jump on the bandwagon. The Desk-Hogger: CPU: Intel i7-5820K Haswell-E @ 3.3GHz (6 Cores for maximum never using more than 40% of my processor) Motherboard: Asus X99-Deluxe (Because I went SUPER overkill on the Processor) RAM: Currently 16GB DDR4, motherboard has slots for 64GB, half of the slots are blocked by the CPU cooler. Will double it eventually. GPU: Asus Strix nVidia GTX 970 (That is my weakest link. Will be replaced eventually) C: Drive: 500GB Crucial SSD D: Drive: 4TB Western Digital HDD (7200RPM) PSU: Dying Monitor: Asus 22" monitor (x2) OS: Windows 10 The Suitcase Hogger: Asus Republic of Gamers G75V CPU: Intel i7-3630QM @2.4GHz GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 660M RAM: 16GB (Upgraded from 8GB) Cooling 1.2 fans (Main fan has been louder than my Mom's car for over 2 years now) OS: Windows 8 (Windows broke, can't update to 8.1 or 10) The Toy: Raspberry Pi 3 OS: Raspbian RE: Share your potato - Project - May 4, 2016 holy shit, everyone here has an i7? do you get them for free or something? god I need an new pc. I saved up for a bit and went full on Overkill on mine. $2000 later and I can't run games like GTA5 on high because of GPU+PSU problems RE: Share your potato - jarz - May 5, 2016 (May 4, 2016, 01:04 PM)Project Wrote: holy shit, everyone here has an i7? do you get them for free or something? god I need an new pc. If you knew anything about i7s you would know that there is virtually zero difference between an i7 and an i5 on the gaming scale. Or second though, go ahead and spend $100 extra for something you don't need.
