Unmarked Dodge & Resupply - Kurdayeti - Mar 30, 2025

Explain your suggestion, in detail:
We should be able to /resupply from unmarked government dodge chargers.

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented:
It doesn't make sense that we can't, as it's part of the government and law enforcement.

In addition, make it possible to steal from the vehicle. +Support

When the car was added, this was discussed and is an intended feature.

Such a vehicle is likely only used by detectives, who generally do not need equipment, and as such don’t carry it in their vehicles.

It’s a trade-off for being sneaky. When we had photon, you couldn’t resupply from a civilian vehicle with the red/blue lights, the Charger should be no different.

I understand your point, though it's also used by undercover officers, and more so than detectives. How will the "sneaky" part be compromised if it's resuppliable anyway? This suggestion would make the vehicle more versatile.

I suppose it’s more about lore/immersion than functionality.

But imo if we added it for the undercover dodge, precedent would suggest we’d have to add it to all the civilian vehicles when we inevitably switch back to Photon.

I think if you’re in a role where you need to resupply regularly, you should probably be in a marked cruiser anyways.

Why not have immersion/lore and functionality at the same time? Regular on-duty police officers do utilize unmarked vehicles too, and they may be subject to or witness an ongoing violent crime, or respond to a 911 call where it may be needed. Detectives using an unmarked dodge charger that's government-owned with ELS lights and loud beep-boop sirens doesn't make sense if they're going to monitor a suspect, for example.

People like to criticize American Law Enforcement for being too heavily armed and too trigger happy, and while there is some truth to that, there are other factors to consider. The ratio of Sworn Law Enforcement Officers to Civilians in the United States is lower than the ratio in Ireland, France, Italy, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Spain, and many others. Then consider that we have a lower population density and more easily available guns than most of the listed countries, and it comes down to the simple fact that on average in the United States there are fewer Law Enforcement Officers covering larger areas with more heavily armed people. Because of that, they "keep that thang on 'em" as the kids are apparently saying, or in English, they keep their equipment handy.

The North Hollywood Shootout resulted in almost every Law Enforcement Agency increasing the amount of firepower available to their Officers, and increasing protection available to them. In that shootout, Detectives and Patrol Officers alike were taking shots at the robbers, even though their sidearms couldn't penetrate the robber's armor. They were able to prevent the heavily armed and armored robbers from fleeing until SWAT arrived with rifles 18 minutes into the shootout.

The reason I bring up the North Hollywood Shootout is because it illustrates that just because Detectives are in an unmarked car it doesn't mean they won't be in a long drawn out gunfight. This is even more true in smaller Cities, such as the one I live in, where they don't have the resources to have a dedicated SWAT team, it's a part time on-call role fulfilled by any LEO role that volunteers and passes the extra training. This means a lot of the Detectives take on this extra role as they're more senior members. Because they may be called at any time, they keep that extra equipment with them at all times, so even if they're visiting a loved one in the Hospital, they've got a grenade launcher in their car in the parking lot, alongside the rest of their kit (I was told this directly by a Detective/SWAT in my City.)

It never made sense to restrict the unmarked car from having the ability to just reload ammo. It still doesn't. It's the same car, just without a wrap and a roof mounted lightbar.
