Hello all!

A few things have happened recently, without much communication on our part, so hopefully this answers some of your questions regarding everything. It's a bit of a long thread, so as always any questions post them in a reply and we'll get back to you as soon as with a response.


What's Happened?

We've had several updates which have come through the past few days, some of which are the following:
  • UCP has been fixed and re-released (@Burnett‍).
  • Shift happens, a way to escort cuffed people, has been released (@Vadar‍‍).
  • New Stormzy UI and the ability to sell pot brownies has been added (@Bambo‍).
  • The accessory size has been decreased to 0 to help free up some needed inventory space from recent and upcoming updates (@Bambo‍‍).
  • Prop re-sizer tool has been added (@bimkx‍).
  • Roleplay assistant applications have been created and opened (@Apollo).


Membership Questions

We're aware of the fact people are currently unable to purchase membership and you don't get it automatically for free at the moment. This is being worked on and an update about this will be released soon.


What else has happened behind the scenes?

Photon
Photon has continued to be investigated. Temporarily, we've reverted to a legacy siren that we had back in 2014/2015. Whilst this wasn't ideal, we understood that people weren't able to connect to the server, which was causing a major issue.

What does temporary mean?
We've discussed adding VCMod ELS whilst we wait for Photon 2, and this will be added later today.

What about photon 2?
Photon 2 is still being developed but considering how big this update is, it will take a while before it is implemented, but it is coming.

What will VCMod ELS mean for the government?
In the following bullet points a + and a - will be before each vehicle, a + means the vehicle remains in that role and in certain circumstances will add vehicles to a role. A - indicates that a vehicle has been removed due to the lack of VCMod ELS support for the vehicle. Again this is all temporary until photon 2's implementation.

Please keep in mind that none of the government liveries will be available, therefore only the base skins of the vehicles can be used. We will look into adding liveries to government vehicles, if our existing system for implementing liveries on non-government vehicles works, if not please keep in mind you may not have access to liveries until the release of photon 2.


Advanced duplicator 2
Advanced duplicator 2 (ADV2) has been looked into, we are currently finalising how ADV2 is going to be deployed to the server.

What about my old dupes?
ADV1 will remain on the server, so you can resave your dupes onto ADV2 however, you will not be able to save dupes onto ADV1. Further information about ADV2 will be coming soon.


Future updates
Another big update is in the works by @Bambo‍,  @Doctor Internet‍, and @Jen‍. Information about this project will be released soon by @Vadar soon.

A new UI for the woodcutter has been developed by @Bambo‍.

License Plate Update
Our license plate system has remained the same since the introduction of L2 Plates

With an upcoming update from @bimkx‍ and @Vadar‍‍ will change how our plates on LimeLight will look and function.
  • Each vehicle will have a unique plate.
  • You'll be able to sell your vehicle with your unique plate to others. For example, your lambo with the plate "Lambo"
  • Criminals will be able use fake vehicles' plates.
  • There will be updated plate themes from @Vadar‍‍.

What's coming now?

A few new additions will be made to the server, in the next few days

You'll notice the following changes:
  • Money printers will now have a chance to drop, scrap metal, electronics and spare mechanical parts upon being damaged and also when destroyed @Jen‍.
  • The update that will shortly be announced by @Doctor Internet (graphics created by our beloved @Vadar).

A little teaser
An update to crafting is in the works, currently there isn't a time frame of when this will be released but it is something on the list.


Internal Shenanigans

So what are we doing internally? What discussions have we had and how might these affect you as a player?

Briefly, we looked into removing rule 10.5 (the dictatorship rule). Which, ended up getting reinstated not long after removal, and therefore it feels right that we should communicate our reasons behind this to you all.

The rule was removed as it was thought it would help create further RP and perhaps we wouldn't need players to ask for staff approval as their RPs transferred into a gradual dictatorship. Whilst this seemed like a good idea at the time, there then became a huge influx of dictatorships, which not only did some break or get close to breaking GMod Server ToS agreements, but naturally dictatorships have a massive impact across the entire server and therefore could impact passiverp's and the like. Whilst this rule completely removed the ability to moderate how a dictatorship is going, how long it could go on for and if it was continuing along the objective and RP line which the permission would've previously been asked for.

Therefore, the rule was reinstated. But this doesn't answer the question:
What does this mean for me? As a player?
If you wish to RP a dictatorship as the President, please make sure that your intended RP doesn't reflect . All you need to do is:
  • Setup a Presdiancy, with suitable laws for a standard democracy.
  • Ask in @ chat for permission to be a dictatorship, and inform us what your intent is, what your goals are and what you wish to achieve.
  • Await for a staff member to grant permission to become a dictator.
  • Then slowly transition into your dictatorship.
It's unlikely that in future this rule will be reverted, but there should always be a staff member online to help you and grant you permission if you wish to become one however, we do hold the right to deny this request.


We've also changed rules 1.16 and 1.17, to help protect players and the server from certain content.

An update from Ares Defence Services!

ADS have released a report showing what has happened over the past 3 years, which you can view here. The unit has just reached it's 4th year of operation and is continuing to move into its 5th year.

As a group, we have spent 2160 hours together with around 72 hours each average in total operating time.
Last year, we had spent 3113 hours together with around 99 hours each in total operating time.

Amazing!

Not sure if it was insinuated, but having the custom, unique, and transferrable plates is nice, especially if we are able to sell them separately from the car.

It would easily be a luxury to own, particularly for "nice" plates that are in high demand. IRL, this is quite common in the Gulf region and would definitely add another fun option to spend/make money on
