One Way Spikes - Stomm - Jul 2, 2019

Add One-Way spikes as something purchasable and usable by anyone. These would be more permanent, and therefore would need a much higher setup time than spike strips (this would also cut back on misuse if people try to throw them out right in front of a vehicle like how regular spike strips are deployed). Give them a REP requirement equal to or greater than that needed for Spike Strips.

Why: These will add many opportunities for people to control traffic in places, without creating as much of a bottleneck for traffic in one direction. For example, a paid parking lot could be set up, requiring people to pay as they leave. Set the spikes to allow for vehicles to enter without having to wait, but when they go to leave they get stopped at the pay booth which is controlled by a gate. If they try to exit via the entrance, they trash their tires.

I have a few cheeky ideas about this one

As long as they have a high REP requirement, I don't see the harm in adding this.

I don't see why they should have a high rep requirement. 1 or 2 reps would work fine for this.

Just to prevent abuse. If the average citizen has access to these, we don't need people minging with them. Can't remember what the REP requirement is currently for regular spike strips but I'd suggest a requirement 1 or 2 points above that.

Currently the spike strip is REP locked at 1. So either have the one way spike strops locked at 1 or 2. I don't think it is worth anymore than that.

Didn't realise it was that low but fair enough. Maybe 3 to 5 REPs?

RE: One Way Spikes - Stomm - Jul 4, 2019

I can see both ways on the REP requirement.

I definitely feel it should be at least 1 (like spike strips), but there are a few things to think about....

Would it be good to keep requirements low and more accessible to players?
This would open it up to more people, and some of best RPs I've seen are done by folks with no/low REPs. It would also mean that more people just playing to troll could abuse it.

Are there other ways to limit it's potential for abuse?
Regular Spike Strips are limited to Law Enforcement, so if someone is abusing their use, they can be demoted. Demotion wouldn't fix predatory use of spikes in this case, but limiting it to certain groups would really limit RP potential. A long setup time would prevent quick deployment to disable a specific vehicle, but wouldn't fix issues such as using them to block off critical areas for shits'n'giggles (Such as vehicle turn-in points).

For putting them in the alley at Blu’s, we could always make them unable to be placed there like you can’t  place cars in certain areas. Also we should remove the ability to physgun them so that people don’t place in the carpark and drag them over.

+Support i think at least 1 REP required

How would they be moved then?
