Map: Paralake - goigle - Dec 10, 2017

OK, before anyone shoots me, I'm not suggesting a map change right now. This is a long term thing if we were going to switch.

Here's the map:

Notable features:
  • Monorail system that goes across most of the city
  • Much higher FPS at load than Rockford, less server load (aka less lag)
  • One single highway that loops around the entire map with multiple entrances / exits
  • A large variety of stores and warehouses
  • very pretty lake
  • Fully outfitted PD with jail, furnished conference room, holding cells with working occupied lights, an elevator AND stairs
  • Big open city hall that would allow for a bunch of government RPs, two elevators (so half the complaining about elevators?)
  • A large rural farm and a few cabins
  • Walkways over the highway so pedestrians don't get CDMed
It is worth noting that the view distance is less than that on Rockford. That could be good or bad, it might mitigate aggressive RP a little bit by virtue of the fact they just can't see as far.


It's the most accurate yet compact small town map I've ever seen imo

Nice map and all. Not sure if it'd fit Limelight but I guess we'd find out if we tested it. Oh and what @Quest said.

How can people say Paralake is a nice map ? The map consist of one big highway that leads to a really close small villiage and has a smaller town area than rockford.

i fucking hate that map with passion. The view distances are fucked. the textures are ugly as shit.

I think it looks decent, but I'd have to download and explore it to make a full opinion. Too bad this community all but hangs itself over map changes.

Yeah, it's a great map and all, but there is nowhere to build player structures.

The issue some people had with Rockford was perma props installed everywhere, but this map is even worse for that.

It is a great map and I would have loved to have it, however, I have a few concerns with this map.

1. It is far too big for our current population.
Speaks for itself, Our current population couldn't fill the map with a passion or even an RP around ever corner.

2. Rendering Issues
Due to how the map is created, there are map rendering issues all over it where the range is short. There is a way to solve this but that requires editing the map and without the creators permission I doubt this would be a good alternative.

3. Door Issues
This map is based for a gamemode. There are parts which players are unable to get it and would make no sense. Most Government Doors are unable to be opened as they act like Combine Doors from Half-Life 2 where you need a force command to open it which would be good but it would include long time development for really minor things.

The render range is what kills this map for me.

Its got maybe 25% of the render range of any other map we've ever used, which kills all immersion I could ever have on it.
