Impound Menu - Tails - Nov 14, 2017

Explain your suggestion, in detail: Similar to https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-11762.html, but with the added benefit of allowing officers to easily track impounded vehicles, when a vehicle is impounded they can mark it as such, and assign it a fee of their choosing (in accordance with rules). All officers will have access to a database where records of impounded vehicles are kept, with fields for Owners, Vehicle, Colour, and Fee Paid. This allows officers to check MUCH more easily if a vehicle has been stolen from the impound, currently if it is taken there is no way to tell whether a vehicle was taken without paying or not.

Using this database automated messages could be sent to players with unpaid fees, letting them know their car is in the impound lot. They could also pay the fee via command, rather than waiting to find an officer who actually listens. Paying via command should alert government officials.

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented:

Easier tracking of impounded vehicles
Easier to pay fines
Better overall quality of life for anyone who actually impounds vehicles

Alternate Ideas:
People with a "Tow Pass" should have a similar ability, being able to mark vehicles as impounded and collect fees from command.

A work around in the meantime, use /note to keep documentation of which vehicles were impounded, and use remover on said note when the fine is paid. If you check the lot and one is missing, you could 911 it in.

Your system would be a vast improvement in terms of repo rp.

I can see this being a really useful feature. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people complain that their cars are nowhere to be found, then when I go and find it, it ends up to be in an impound.

+support.

+Support only when dev team remakes the DB and adds this to it.

DB as in DataBase?  I'm presently near finished with my database course.  I could probably help with the diagram if that is the case.

P.S. If it is Database, do you have any idea what normal form they are in at the present? Helps me start thinking of how to help.

Currently it only has gov vehicle tracking, warrant history (which is accurate 25% of the time), and a distress button I believe.

The main problems with it are:

- It’s useless as it is so inaccurate, that at most times you might as well just ask the suspect when they were arrested and why.
- The warrant history if it DOES work gives half the description and sometimes none, with no end to the history, giving a problem with NLR.

What should be added in my opinion:

- Dedicated call page where a dispatcher (NDS) or supervisor can give you a priority call with a location, response code, situation description, and if you may need Fire, Medical, or Additionals. There will be also a place to click clear call, which will send a message in radio chat that you’re clear of the call. This would not only popup in a list of calls you’ve responded to in your session, but will also appear in chat if you get a new one. Making it easier to just see the call and not have to look in the DB.
- BOLO page of wanted suspects and descriptions of each one (made by the player reporting). These will be automatically removed if the suspect is arrested or is taken off by a Sgt.
- Better accuracy with warrant search and limit history of warrants to only that current session and reset it if the player dies. This way there is no NLR problem until we get a dedicated character selection of some sorts, like Nevy has suggested.
- 911 Call list which is only accessed by the Sgt and Nexus Desk Secretary. Putting even more reliability on a dispatcher. If no NDS or Sgt is online, all officers will have access to 811 normally through chat, along with the 911 calls. This list will clear its last 20 911 calls after 1 hour or shorter.
- Fix the ability to put a warrant on a suspect’s plates
- (Optional) A report area where players fill in situation reports after a call, so the Sgt can assess their work and can keep up to date with his subordinate’s state.
- Fining system (This would most likely be bigger than just the DB) Area in the DB where a vehicle can be scanned and sent an “E-mail” of a ticket price and a reason. This would have to be paid to either a NPC at the PD (Where it will just disappear) or given to the city (once we have a dedicated fining system for government.
- Warning and Note System. A place where officers can put suspects in with a description and a short note to give officers a better understanding of certain suspects. This would also be used for warnings, so suspects aren’t let off so easily.

That’s all I can think of for now.
