Police PDA / Handheld Terminal - IsThisaNewFLRP? - Aug 21, 2017 Suggestion Type: [In-Game/Forums/Other] Explain your suggestion, in detail: Through out Limelight's existence after the Database update, I feel like there's a need of a Handheld terminal for officers so they don't have to recur to their police cars to use the database inside of it, as also I have seen a member (@Wesley) who has Roleplayed his traffic stops with the use of a so-called PDA with the use of /me and /it and after I've seen his efforts, and after I've tried it too, and doesn't really feel like doing it easy for the circumstances of using the database inside of the police vehicles and by the way, with this thing you could create something called "Tickets on the fly" like shown in this segment of KRON 4's People Behaving Badly https://youtu.be/CaIXM-Vdpo0 Explain why the suggestion should be implemented: Explained above Pics of how they should look like (If you look in the TDM props, there is a prop called "calculator" but it's actually a PDA if you take a deep look at it) https://images.policemag.com/articles/PO0203pda-4-1.jpg https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1A4wBNXXXXXXaXXXXq6xXFXXXn/Portable-Android-font-b-handheld-b-font-font-b-police-b-font-enforcement-pda-ticketing-machine.jpg https://sc01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1VRrrSpXXXXcbapXX760XFXXXg/china-products-rugged-pda-industrial-rfid-police.png RE: Police PDA / Handheld Terminal - Dick - Aug 21, 2017 +Support RE: Police PDA / Handheld Terminal - Wesley Lawrence - Aug 21, 2017 +support As said above, I roleplayed a few times with the (non-existent) PDA before. It's a great way to search for a criminal history or a simple ownership (for example, of a vehicle) check when there's reason you can't reach for your vehicle during the traffic stop. Models can be anything from an actual handheld PDA device as shown above (the Nautiz X5 is one of the handheld PDAs I've used during my internship in public transport) or a smartphone with certain ''applications'' on it. This is what an application (something I used during my second internship) could look like on a smartphone: ![]() RE: Police PDA / Handheld Terminal - IsThisaNewFLRP? - Aug 21, 2017 (Aug 21, 2017, 03:52 AM)Wesley Lawrence Wrote: +support Let's not forget that some countries like Australia (at least in New South Wales) use smartphones as their PDAs, Some US states use PDAs too RE: Police PDA / Handheld Terminal - Nev - Aug 21, 2017 -Support Too much development time and resources going into something that is already accessible from the computer database in your vehicle. I also don't believe this is something that is commonly used by law enforcement as I believe they're almost always in their vehicle(s) during traffic stops, etcetera and using their police computer. We don't want to make it any easier for a police officer to acquire information and I stand by that in many different areas including the issuing of warrants being limited to computer within the Police Department or Town Hall as monk had suggested. In the end, I believe a phone would be more adequate use of our developers as it has a wider range of applications and isn't just another update to please the community members who tend to always play as a police officer. Additional features on a phone for law enforcement could be an option down the road. RE: Police PDA / Handheld Terminal - alan245 - Oct 15, 2017 neutral, Adding another portable method for LEOs isn't a bad thing but after adding another to search up database without returning his cruisers can change a lot. Police are meant to patral in pairs where one is driving and the other stay in side and look up database.after this sugestion there will have no cooperation within policy department which is already lack on.
