Radio/Communications jammer - monk - Aug 20, 2017 Suggestion Type: In-Game Explain your suggestion, in detail: Allow for the use of a small, portable radio jamming device as well as a larger, static AOE jammer. These jammers would turn off your radio and block PMs in a way similar to how the jail system works. Explain why the suggestion should be implemented: Buckles up buckaroos this might be long. I'll begin by explaining why I believe this suggestion should be implemented and then have separate explanations for the two devices. The purpose of this suggestion is to allow for the roleplayed jamming of communications devices with its effect varying upon the different tool used to do so. This suggestion could be usable by government affiliates to jam communications in a sensitive area, anti-government conspiracy theorists who believe the Soviets are controlling their minds via satellites, and more high-tech criminals looking to cover their tracks and prevent word of their actions from reaching law enforcement. Just to name a few RP possibilities. Aside from their potential use for RP, it can also be used to prevent individuals from contacting outside help in an unrealistic scenario. I will now go into detail regarding the two options available. Portable: A craftable item that can be equipped like a weapon or tool. It doesn't have to be very expensive but should require electronics, scrap metal, and perhaps other similar components. The price should not exceed $7,500 per unit for balance. There should be no REP or hour lock on this item and schematics should cost roughly $25,000. When the item is equipped on your person, you can switch to it and toggle it on or off. Doing so would disable communications on your person as well as those within a very small radius around you (very small being around 1 meter.) However, rather than being use as an on-person item it would be used as either an item you are able to place or an item similar to hostage rope or a blindfold where you can jam a small room or attach it to a person to jam their communications. A notification in the chat would display to inform you that you are being jammed- preferably well-written and informative. Upon use, the item would be removed from your person and the only way to retrieve it would be by approaching it on the ground and using /reclaim, or a similar command, or by approaching the player and using either /reclaim (if that's possible, I'm a dreamer not a coder) or by using whatever button is not used for searching (right click or R, I swear they change based on whether or not they're cuffed or roped or they have their hands up. I just press both to be safe.) The main purpose of this unit would be to jam a small area for sensitive operations or to prohibit an individual from contacting outside help should they be captured or detained. Static: A larger entity that is spawned in a way similar to items such as contraband, metal detectors, meth supplies, etc. and would resemble either a small-ish tower or an available tech-y prop. It should also be craftable with ingredients not totaling above $15,000 per unit and should require 1-3 general REP to spawn. Schematics should cost roughly $50,000. The item should be movable by means of the physgun and toggled on or off by pressing the use key on it. Any individual should be able to operate the item, allowing for potential sabotage or allowing the enemy to disable it to further their objective. The item should be able to be destroyed by use of the ram or by a few hits with a melee weapon. Shooting it should be a less viable option as bullets are not guaranteed to destroy the components within and to prevent instantly spraying it down from a mile away. The item should disable all communications within a radius of 25-50 meters and three should be able to be spawned at once. The item can be packed up and stored through the use of the /reclaim command. Conclusion: This item is by no means necessary, however its implementation could open up a large number of gamemode-supported RPs. I personally do not believe this really needs to be added but I do believe it could be interesting and I would like to hear opinions on it. I would suggest that it be limited to people with 1 underground REP, as underground REPs don't currently have many rewards.
