Slight change to acquiring and displaying search warrants - monk - Aug 18, 2017

Suggestion Type: In-Game

Explain your suggestion, in detail: Place a computer or some other similar entity into either the PD or the Town Hall and require that an officer request the warrant from there. The interface could be similar to the phone booth's.

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented: Cops don't just stand at your doorstep and instantly get a warrant. More importantly, the small amount of time added between going to request the warrant and the actual search could allow whoever is being warranted to dispose of any firearms or other illegal goods. While letting criminals get away with disposing of their evidence may sound like a bad idea, be sure to take into account that this would potentially lower the amount of shootouts that occur between criminals and cops seeing as they wouldn't be desperate enough to shoot cops to avoid being seen with illegal weapons or goods.

To balance this in favor of the cops, the notification that you have a warrant for a search, or even arrest, could be removed so as to force them to keep an eye out for any signs that a warrant is inbound. A command, or other method, similar to the commands to show your ID could also be used to show a player that you do indeed have a warrant to search their property. Though if they refuse, or the situation isn't so peaceful, the ram would still be available.

Neutral.

Until there is a method to drag and force players into vehicles this isn't a good idea. Players have broke FearRP to prevent arrests and unwilling to role play at times. That is the only reason I will not be supporting this suggestion.

If players are breaking fearRP to prevent arrests from occurring then you should record it and make a player report. It's really not difficult.

+support. This would be a welcome change to make criminalRP a bit more interesting.

All I'm suggesting is that police actually have to leave and come back with a warrant rather than just standing in the doorway while they radio for one. And also, as a bonus for players who are into that kind of thing, suggesting that you are not alerted to a search warrant. I'm not quite sure how dragging players into vehicles is important to that so if you could explain that bit that'd be great.

Would make cops rethink their strategies and possibly result in less deaths.

Hiding the warrant display would force criminals to be more cautious/wary of their crimes committed.
And having cops travel to pickup a warrant sounds like a great idea, it would promote better RP between the cops/criminals.

I also think that You should open the Police Database to get one, In real life, You don't just go ahead and radio in "Hey president can I get a search warrant on this guy for illegal guns?"

There president dose not even has a radio to contact the PD,FD Or even EMS!

You should be able to get warrants only from the Police Computer.

Great idea! I'd love to see this implemented. Tired of having police officers detain people on the road, hit the President with a quick arrest warrant request and smack 'em with a baton in a period of less than 30 seconds. This is a role-play server and we should be striving to expand the overall level of role-play for all parties involved.

I believe handcuffed players cannot leave a vehicle once entered, correct? If not, this is a simple change and to remove them you should have an option in the driver seat context menu (C Menu) to right click the vehicle and have something such as Remove Passenger and it should come up with the names of the current passengers. We do have the command to boot someone from a vehicle but I believe context menu properties are favorable in all situations as to typing out a long command.

I'm actually very much against that. Search warrants pretty much take place between law enforcement and a judge, not the mayor/president's secretary. Moreover, if the secretary could do it then it wouldn't differ from the current system at all except for one extra step (going from officer>president to officer>secretary>president).
