LimeOS - CityRP computer mod
In-game model can be found here.

LimeOS is a computing system that would be created specifically to work with CityRP. The computer would function by pressing 'E' on the computer in-game and simply popping up with a DHTML interface, similar to that of the F1 Menu / Police Database.

This type of game feature would expand role-play in many different areas as the computer would offer features useful to those in Passive Role-play, ClanRP, as well as Criminal Role-play. It would offer many new features such as the ability to post online advertisements for your business or even your clan (text or image advertisements), access an online marketplace that shows current items being sold by users that would allow you to see their name and easily access their steam profile, access the stock exchange website and easily make trades in-game, visit the EC:PD or City Hall website to see announcements by the police or President/VP, access chatrooms that can be public or password protected to talk directly to other people in-game (computer-to-computer), and lastly access the Dark Net where illegal and anonymous advertisements can be made for illegal goods or services.

Basically the beginning is creating the framework, then additional applications can be created.

Things such as:

Clan Websites
EvoBank (Wire Transfers, Bank Account Statements, Shared Accounts)

Would allow for a ton of new RP opportunities. Especially if you allow users to create their own websites

RE: LimeOS - Safira - Aug 28, 2016

That would be really cool. Especially if there was also an Email feature, which allowed you to send an in-game message to someone (and attach images) by inputting their SteamID, even if they were offline. Which means you could FINALLY give the police sergeant evidence of a corrupt officer.

Perhaps rather than separate tabs, there could be a Web Browser, where you could access these things? So you just need to type in the link (or they could be bookmarked tabs) - so you can search up other stuff, too.

One thing though for the love of all that is good, it needs to be immersive with players around you, not just a gui for your eyes only. If the screen of the computer can't be rigged to show what the person is doing on it (ie, if you were looking over the person's shoulder you would be able to see what they were doing), then even keeping chat box open so people can use /Me and /It would be better than not.

Thank you for your constructive input! An email feature is definitely something that would only be beneficial. I love the idea of having it send to players even when they are offline! I believe the EC:PD website should have information listed for the current Sergeant, such as his/her character name along with their email address (in-game email). I too believe having LimeOS visible on the entity itself would be simply amazing, however I don't necessarily know what constraint that would ultimately have on the development time of such a project. The browser idea is what I had intended because I originally got my inspiration from the Internet Cafe I occasionally visited in GTA 4. I think that this opens up for plenty of new RP oppurtunities! You'd likely see threads on the forum advertising their website link. Back onto the idea of having it on the entity itself and visible by players nearby... I believe this is something that needs to be decided on by the Developers. While we would all love for that to be the case, I'd like to hear if this is possible and wouldn't take an enormous amount of additional work. PCMod had it this way and I've seen other entities that have similar interfaces on the props so I believe it is surely possible, though the key question is if it is possible with DHTML, since I believe HTML is the easiest programming language to do this in and is probably a better fit for the intended features of the add-on. Then again, I have no idea what the hell I am talking about when it comes to scripting! Just want to go down the road that allows LimeOS to be something that can be developed at a steady pace, slightly complex and yet be able to add additional features with ease.

Another thing that I wanted to mention was that there should be an App Store that allows you to purchase additional applications, such as the Stock Market Exchange, Dark Net as well as other things. I also believe there should be some form of IP address that uses your UniqueID or something similar. There should be a way to track this IP to the location of the computer, though it would only track it based on the last recorded location. For example, if you sent a message to someone on the computer at your home but moved the computer from the house and tossed it in the lake, tracking the computer would bring it back to the home. I'm not sure how one would track it, though I believe it should be something relatively easy for the police to do. On top of this, there must be a way to mask your IP and be completely anonymous through purchasing a VPN in the App Store. One would need a way to bypass said VPN and this could be done by creating some form of software or USB that could be used with the computer and would unmask an encrypted but still traceable IP. This can be created through the use of scrap electronics as well as additional components that may or may not need to be added. We can possibly add new components with the addition of computers that can be found when a computer is destroyed.
