Main RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - BlackDog - Aug 15, 2018 Is there a way for a player to opt out of this? The situation comes to mind where a player is already on server, or comes on server just as this "event" starts, and they want to RP as they normaly do, but suddenly they cannot place the dupes they want or RP in the areas they want because of prior "reservations" I would assume this entire thing is opt in only, and not forced upon people, otherwise it will have a detrimental effect on those who would rather play their normal way. Main Server RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - BlackDog - Aug 15, 2018 I would hope so, forced events don't always end well, if we all recall the old days forced passive nights, where all guns would be disabled? Police, SWAT, SS, Gun dealers, Corlones, Anarchists, Black market dealers in one instance all became worthless jobs to be in. Then there are the situations where an admin would announce their holding an RP event on the server, and almost all the servers general RP would die as people flooded to be apart of their RP for the higher chance of earning Reps, main reason I never announced any events I did, people just had to find them. If this is infact a non-opt out event, what would you do with those who don't want to take part, and just continue on as normal? They cant be punished as they haven't broken any official rules RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - Dan - Aug 15, 2018 (Aug 15, 2018, 04:01 PM)BlackDog Wrote: I would hope so, forced events don't always end well, if we all recall the old days forced passive nights, where all guns would be disabled? The first being given 4 hours before. As for those that do not wish to take part, I’ll advise you speak to Bambo. RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - BlackDog - Aug 15, 2018 That kind of sets an odd precedent does it not? "We want to encourage roleplay" (Oh boy, i want to be a cop) "No, you dont get to be one because Bob online reserved that slot" (But he's not here? And it wasnt like this yesterday?) "If you go cop, you will be given a warning, do not go cop" (We'll i wana go cop? Nothing in the rules says i cant?) "Warning issued, player removed from cop slot" (Player leaves server and never comes back) Its this odd situation where you want to encourage RP, but only a specific type of RP, and will warn people off for RPing in a way thats...not? The kind you want to encourage? In the end its all Roleplay so why would it matter? Edit: Another thought came to mind, by warning 4hrs before hand, do you mean to say that if players are in the slots that are "reserved" before this starts, they will be forced out to make way for the other people? If so that's very unfair and rude to those who we're already enjoying their time on the server. RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - Dan - Aug 15, 2018 Forced events that change the way/ restrict one's normal RP (police, fire, EMS) really should be held on the event server. (ie. https://limelightgaming.net/forums/thread-22285.html) RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - Project - Aug 15, 2018 (Aug 15, 2018, 04:19 PM)Dan Wrote: Forced events that change the way/ restrict one's normal RP (police, fire, EMS) really should be held on the event server.I disagree 100%, roleplay on the main server is extremely stale at the moment, I would rather get kicked of my position so an event can happen on Live rather than sending people over to another server for the sole purpose of doing a server wide event. It is literally 4 hours, you can do whatever you want before and after. Not to mention the fact this was posted 3 WEEKS before it happens. Decent. RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - Soviethooves - Aug 15, 2018 Ight this event just lost any respect I had for its message. If you wanna bave a Serious RP Night. Sure I have no problem with it. But don’t kick people out of slots in the middle of their RP. We have an event server for this very reason. Why ruin some peoples’ day when they just wanna get on a play usual LL? RE: Limelight | Serious Roleplay Night - bimkx - Aug 15, 2018 It's one night... main is more likely to attract more people to join the event. If you can't survive one evening without being able to play as a police officer then you've got issues. |
