I'm probably just thick, but I think as of now there's enough crafting and 'other stuff' going on to keep people busy.
It's important to remember that at the end of the day, this is a RP server, not a everything-is-coded-for-you server.

A bit of imagination is all it takes to make a Gas & Oil RP by managing BP and having a rig in the lake.

To me, the learning curve for new players is already pretty steep; a compulsory dynamic 'Fuel System' (unlike the ECSE, which you can participate in voluntarily) is going to confuse quite a lot of players, and will make L2 even more like Minecraft with the amount of NPC-Entity-Systems: Meth, Contraband, Weed, Wood, Fuel, Fishing (as said in a previous 'upcoming' thread)... you have to ask yourself where the RP is.

What learning curve?

Not sure if you completely understand the suggestion.

People arent forced to do this, gas will still be available at the station for the same price it is right now. This is merely a way to not only add a legal way to make money, it can lead to added RP's for individuals and clans. BP could BE a clan. It creates a way for players to sell to NPC OR directly to consumers if they take extra steps. Don't see how you see this as Minecraft... maybe the woodcutting system made it like Runescape. Who cares? I dislike this thing called "RP" when it is all pretend and nothing productive is actually being done. Why not have both? Allow for RP in new ways while makin it a way to make a living

It also opens the door for future updates that may require oil/petrol/energy - such as a more advanced contraband system where you power your printers. Who knows

+Support You arn't think Safira, don't hate on yo self. The extraction of oil from an RNG spot on the outskirts of the map, or pre determined spot could but as easily done with a small set of items. A drill, a Pump, and barrels for the oil. Or just like wood, the pump could produce oil and when you press Use on it, it puts the barrels in your inventory. As for refinement, I could be a process similar to making medkits. Something that the doctor sells could refine the oil. Passive role play is fun and all, but if there is a way to add money into the mix that would be radical. Imagine you get on one morning as you fill up your car for 10$ per 10%. The more oil coming in, the cheaper gas could become, lets say down to 5$ per 10%. If no one is collecting oil that would skyrocket to again, lets guesstimate 50$ per 10%. That could really put a dampen on the lesser population and or make a richer society. It would be great to add on a small change in price of oil for how much is being sold. More=less $ per barrel. Less sold+higher gas price = Better oil price. This determining factor would obviously have to be a high number, like 10 000 barrels to make an effect on prices.

RE: Oiled Up - Voluptious - May 29, 2016

This suggestion is lacking the required legwork by OP or the community. "Add more stuff" or anthing simmilar is undescriptive and does not help our developers in any way. OP or the community has 4 days to fix (or start detailed discussion) before it is denied.

Make sure the suggestion contains exactly what to add, and relevant info such as pricing for items, REP or hours for restrictions, locations for eventual props or other etc.

(Propose exact min/max values, NPC gui, models (if possible) and locations for oil fields as well as suggested selling price to the NPC and such).

But might need a law saying.
No more than 10 liters can be in a car that isn't in its fuel tank.

RE: Oiled Up - Doctor Internet - Jul 31, 2017

Due to a lack of input into this suggestion for nearly a year, it has been returned to the Old Suggestions subforum for community input.

Voting for this suggestion will last for an extended period of two weeks, due to the large amount of development work this would entail.
