-Only 1 REP? No.
-Someone could abuse it.
-It can cause lag with some props.
-Keep it for staff.

This would be an extremely powerful tool, and could easily be stealthily abused. There are a number of people who have REP who do nothing but push the boundaries, and this would be a field day for them. I feel it is best to keep this on a staff approval basis in order to keep violations low.

Which is why I suggetsed to make it much higher than 1. Such as roughly 5 General REPs, as very few people have this total

Honestly, if this ever gets opened up, it should be double digits.

I can think of a number of people with over 5 REPs who still do nothing but push the boundaries. They usually don't do anything explicitly or obviously against the rules, but hoo boy is it close.

This is such a powerful tool I do not think a REP limit will adequately limit its abuse potential. Maybe if people lost REP when they get punished for things (such as one person with at least 5 REP who has a long list of FailRP/FearRP/Prop Abuse punishments), it would end up okay, but I have not seen that happen.

Why add it if it will be abused so often?

Cause that's what we've been doing for the past 5 years, good sir?

Everything gets abused. Only solution is to ban the people abusing

As Soviet said, no point adding it, if people are going to abuse it so often. It just gives the admins and mods a harder day staffing. They have enough to handle a day anyways, this would just go overboard.

RE: Mechanic Welding for REP - Stomm - Jul 22, 2016

Yes everything can be abused, but some things can be abused a lot more than others. This is one of those things.

"Only solution is to ban the people abusing"

While this would technically work, it causes a bigger problem: Overloading the Staff. The Staff do not get paid. They are taking time out of their day to explain in the simplest words possible why running around throwing bathtubs at people is not a RP. As it is, they are usually responding to calls a lot of the time they're on, and if your free time consists you doing nothing but policing a server, you're going to get burned out. We, as a community, want Staff that is also here to have a good time. If their time on the server consists of going from AdminSit to AdminSit, they stop having fun, and it becomes more like an unpaid second job. That ends badly for everyone.

Phew. First of all, I would like to say that I completely agree with you and things like when today Nac and Jono sang together on the stage, make it a fun time for both them and us as well. I love seeing them happy and thus increasing our happiness as well.

But... You are saying that people will abuse this without having even seen it implemented. You are speaking from experience.
Believe me, I have seen just as many rulebreakers as you. I have been here since 2011. However I believe that the community as a whole has matured a lot and strangely enough it is very rare to see a proppusher, propkiller or even an RDMer nowadays.

I do not intend on overloading the staff. I understand that they are only people, whom Brynn and Temar chose as those who can guide the community in the right direction, acting as fathers for all of us. However, I believe that this should be given, if nothing else, a chance. A trial.

What's more, I think that every controversial suggestion (like mine) should be given a trial for about a week and if things go south and the staff is indeed overloaded, it can simply be denied. Believe me, I like the staff team enough that if they say this suggestion is too much, I won't push it any further.

All I'm asking for is to make a Hungarian student's dream true. I believe that if this could be implemented, it would be hella fun for everyone, both us, as players and the staff. If it doesn't work, then..... but let time be the judge.

Thank you, I hope you all have a good night. I'm out for today.

Going on that basis why are guns in the game? They are clearly being abused.

Guns are a big part of the cityrp gamemode, removing them would result in a large quantity of the playerbase dissapearing.

That's not the point, it doesn't matter if something will be abused. Almost all aspects of the gamemode can be abused one way or another. So why would adding an extra feature that could massively increase role play potential be a problem
