The model itself is a good model, it has been well done and does represent a very cheap, old vehicle that is most certainly better than the cheap, old model we currently have.  Keeping a low-polygon vehicle simply for nostalgia... is not good.  It is not fitting in with the world at all anymore, or ever.

Now speaking of the world we live in (v33x and Rockford).  Both of these maps are based in the Northern United States.  And judging from the types of 'common' vehicles we see on the streets, these are very wealthy towns.  This vehicle looks to be a Russian built coupe that is certainly not a US production vehicle.  It doesn't fit into this world either.  A beat up Chevy, an old Ford sure.  But not this.

People need to stop bringing up the "origins" of the maps. Yea, it is the US, though filled with 60% UK and many swedes, danish, some turkish, etc.
Who cares where it is set? This is a gaming community, not a country.

We decide what's best for our community, not Obama.

I bring them up for the sake of realism.  The map is based out of the United States, which in Real Life is filled with 60% UK, swedes, danish, turkish and many many many other countries.  The sheer diversity of the US is huge.

If it was a European map I would be against US-only vehicles.  This is a gaming community yes, a gaming community that roleplays.  And the roleplaying world is based on a set location, with a few event-exceptions.  Therefore it would make sense that the props and vehicles that are included are also period fitting.

That is all.

Trabant is needed to achieve the best East Block roleplay.

Love it. Hey I'm consistent. In time you can add to that. Cars are my thing, and I believe they add a lot to the realism to the environment. You can tell the neighborhood by looking at the vehicles in the area. Without some semblance of realism you end up with a jumbled mess. So, vehicles are my small part in keeping that from happening.

Smile Nice video, made my morning.

I'm glad you liked the video and didn't ban me.

Now back on topic, are you proposing keeping the trabant, or finding another alternative to both of these cars, because in my opinion, the trabant is just as unrealistic as the Niva.

I am all with you when it comes to keeping the vehicle selection realistic to the US, so maybe like an old Mini Cooper or something like that. But when it comes to this thread, I would rather have a high quality car that is unrealistic to the area, than a low quality car that is unrealistic to the area.

I agree, the Trabant is just as unrealistic and in much poorer quality.  So, I would most certainly like to see the Trabant replaced with something better.

There are a few things out there that could work:

1979 Volvo 242 Turbo
[Image: 3utDEf5.jpg]

2002 Dodge Neon SE
[Image: lywCXqQ.jpg]

To name a few cars.  You could even go a different route and explore trucks and suvs:

1993 GMC Typhoon
[Image: bD0Pk5a.jpg]

1992 GMC Syclone
[Image: EzsPOvS.jpg]

Low cost vehicles that are more fitting in the city and are vehicles that had a role within the US

The first 2 cars would be good to directly replace the trabant, the second 2 could be other alternatives for low-class starter cars. I don't there to be only 1 option for people just starting out. They should be able to choose out of a few junkers. A pickup would be good for a starter also.

Make the trabant a vanity item.

Make it cost $10,000,000, and replace the trabants current role with this.

Fits the theme of "trabant" more. If there was a way that some options was to be taken of this such as red rims? I mean it would be cool for rp but as a starting car.. not as realistic unless you got the dollars
