Overused layout imo. Not a big fan of how small it feels and that there is really no support left for it. IMO I like an open map like TN or Rockford for the outskirts feel when outside the city. No matter what map it is people always flock to the city if they want to be seen. The problem is there is a lot of incentive to do stuff that you DONT want to be seen.

If v4b1 is an "relative" easy fix why dont you just fix it?

Players have to DL the new map? Just add it to the fastDL? I mean I can't imagine that new players would have a problem with that... New players will eventually either keep on playing gmod and install lots of mods, or not. Older players already have their folder filled with addons.

I just dont see the problem.

Don't think it's that easy to fix which is why it hasn't been. I bring up the recompiling part because no new player will already have the map subbed as can happen with the main releases of the maps LL has been using

I believe the map author specifically didn't like people tinkering with his map files, so such fix wouldn't be as easy as chucking money at it from what I recall.

Decompiling maps is frowned upon in the mapping community, especially if it's not for educational purposes and you're actually using the map. A map decompile can cause all sorts of issues. Sometimes it doesn't compile every brush, textures are missed out, etc. It's not really a case of it taking forever, it's just the buggy result you'll get from it recompiling a decompiled map. Simpler maps don't really have this issue. It's better to ask the mapper for the original .vmf and edit that, if we're gonna do it.

There are like 200 edits of evocity, honestly at this rate I don't think Sgt Sgt really cares if one of his old maps gets a recompile to fix a issue. Although if you was to just recompile a map just to have people download it when joining, at that rate you might as well have a custom map or even just a edit of that map. Just fyi
