RE: Map Vote! - Markus - Dec 26, 2018

For those curious, I have measured the time it takes for the police to respond to certain locations on Truenorth.

I have used the LW version of the Dodge Charger Interceptor available on the Workshop, one of the most common vehicles used by the police on the server.
I have used the PD parking lot as my starting point.
I have also, beforehand, made sure I am using the fastest route in each case.
Testing was done on an empty map in Singleplayer with no traffic or latency issues.

PD -> Lake: 2m5s
PD -> Industrial: 25-30s (depending on location)
PD -> Railway Ave. (shops): 16s
PD -> Suburbs: 17-20s

For reference: the beach on Rockford from the PD is 24 seconds away.

As long as it has a bank I'm good with whatver lol.

RE: Map Vote! - RageSquid - Dec 26, 2018

It has, no worries. The bank reminds me of the Payday 2 small bank heist actually.

It does next to Town Hall.

Great for an Outer City Police Station/Department kind of RP.

V5P is more ideal as you have options both in close proximity to the urban center and tons of options beyond the city limits that allows more flexibility in where criminal activity might take place.

The industrial area along with a number of suburban/lake homes, farmland, outer-city warehousing and plenty of open space beyond allows both criminal and passive style role-plays to be spread out; this comes with obviously an increased distance from law enforcement and emergency services.

Those that choose to place their business in the inner-city or live in inner-city apartments might find themselves doing this primarily because it comes with more amenities and improved services.

V5P, with its large distance to the outer-city areas, has plenty of outer-city areas (farmlands) to establish a secondary government establishment and/or police department.

It also opened the door up to some wonderful RP's in the past that brought TownRP into play by role-playing out the election of mayors to represent that outer-city area.

I don't think that changing the name of the game-mode and to switch to hick county is going to do much for the community nor the desirability to play this game mode.

RE: Map Vote! - Zeyon - Dec 26, 2018

After checking out rp_truenorth I'm in favour of changing the map to it, it looks great.

I mean quite frankly all I remember about v5p is the server having 5 players at max, all of them contra farming
and yes I have been around for quite a while.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Besides, all these good RP's outside the city and whatever can be done on Truenorth as well.

Yeah, when v5p was the second server, while he had 50 people on v33x. This argument is FLAWED.

Well if v5p is better than v33x in the people's opinion, wouldn't more people have been playing on v5p if both were available?

People liked v33x more than v5p, v33x is not a choice now, so what happened when the map was a second choice for the community is irrelevant in this discussion. People that join early or late at night when the population is low, do exactly the same, contrawhore. If v5p was more popular, v33x would be the server people contrawhoring, which did happen when people jumped on Rockford US.

It's not the maps fault that people used it for a certain thing because of its low population at the time.

Objection!

This is merely speculation as we do not know how the vote would differ were we to add v33x.
