Many times, staff members are too busy to look into every single report that comes through. Our tool is good but it's not perfect either and it takes time to review a situation with it.

If a staff member is on the server, then he'll have to prioritize calls, especially when there are several. We try to look into cases through our tool but it takes a lot of time and sometimes we just can't do it.

When we require evidence in a PR, then it is because our tools alone might not give us enough information. We also don't have time to look through hours of material for claimed rulebreakage on a PR.

It does not capture VOIP.

I will not go more in-debth about our tools and powers.

Another point which I brought up a couple of pages ago,

Why is it that some staff members spend 20+ Hours on the server per week while others can spend as little as 30 minutes on the server per week?

This was actually recently dealt with. The only reason some staff members are inactive now is because they either have scheduled leave, internet issues, etc.

Other staff members that aren't scheduled are being looked into by HR I believe, but sadly from my personal opinion they are being too lenient. Hopefully with the new HR member we can see an increase in these check ins and possible promotions of active members (*cough* Bambo)

Is this perhaps something that could be shared publicly for transparency sake?

Not why staff members are on leave, more who is and when.

I will not share information on when or why a staff member is away. They have IRL business to tend to, and if they want to share that information then they are able to to do so. IRL stuff comes up though and this makes it hard to say when someone will be unavailable, and for how long.

If you're avoiding people knowing for privacy issues, then why not make a Staff Roster page and when someone is away, they can edit it with 'Unavailable' or something like that. When they come back, they can update it with 'Available.' That way, players know that said staff member will be inactive, and players don't know the reason behind them being away.

Because that would then put the said staff member on the spot. adding to the already demanding activities we need to do when we aren't seen on the server. For example, handling the unban/unblacklist requests we receive, following up with logs, etc. Completely down to the staff member whether they'd like to announce the reason as to why they're going away.

'Why' should not be publicly announced unless the involved staff member decides to do so themselves. Simple because of privacy reasons.

However, 'when' should definitely be possible just so we will know what staff members suddenly disappeared off the grid and which ones had a LOA coming up.

Dig is a good example of that. What ever happened to him? Does anyone know if he's fine or not? Will he ever return? Etc.

yes because literally not doing those activities is demanding and makes it too hard to say "im going away for x amount of time"

I don't see how spending 5 seconds typing 'Unavailable' is that would add pressure?. Also, they won't be announcing the reason by just saying that they're unavailable. All it's doing is letting the community know that they won't be available for a while, which then avoids people having to constantly ask in this thread 'Why is <name? not on the servers?'

RE: Staff to community Q & A - Bambo - Aug 30, 2017

I'm on a kebab holiday, so that's the reason I'll be away for a week or so.
