Warzone: Evo City
By Phil Coulson

Or so it seems. What else are the people of the city supposed to think when violence rules their daily lives? These days crime rules the streets of a once prosperous city, and it is nearly impossible to go a day without hearing or witnessing a gunfight. Evo City seems to be cursed with an eternally disorganized and incompetent police force, and with administrations consistently enacting laws outlawing weapons, ordinary law-abiding citizens have little to no options for their personal safety. The market's solution to this problem seems to be the ever-growing amount of private military contractors and security companies that are being created. While at first glance these companies may seem like a good solution due to their superior organization over standard government forces, they have their own problems. One must consider that if you see a soldier of a private military or security company patrolling the streets of our city, know that they swear allegiance not to our country, our city, or the people, but to their paycheck. Just as easily as these companies can be employed by our governments, they can be employed by our enemies, or criminal syndicates to do their dirty work. One of the more prominent military companies based in Evo City, Aeris, does not even try to hide this. On their main company page is written this:
Quote:When organizations and governments across the world look to acquire territory and political influence which is hard or rare by nature, then we're the means of a solution to keep their hands clean.  We provide "cleaning" services and special contracts to enhance the client's position in society.

This company openly advertises themselves as a sort of hit man service, and one must wonder about the ethics of the operations performed by Aeris and similar companies. The recently bankrupt Cerberus International operated in a similar manner, and there have been reports circulating of them conducting less than ethical operations within Evo City. Putting private military and security companies in charge is letting them put a gun to all of our heads while taking orders from the highest bidder. I don't feel safe with these guys around, and neither should you. We live in Evo City, not Afghanistan or Syria, yet we are living in a military occupation all the same.
