a bind change or command would suffice I think, make it impossible to do by accident.
How about something as simple as this.

If the car is unlocked people can get in and out of the car.
If the car is locked people can not get in or out until it is unlocked.

No need for a command or internal locking system for that.

That is a good idea actually, that's how it works in real life too, so added realism.

We don't need child-locks on our car doors!
