I don't mind if "New RP Props" doesn't get released this year.
Like seriously, whatevs.
Overall I don't mind waiting if things are as bug free as possible. I'm willing to wait, though impatiently... (new fireman skin wohoo!)

I do think grouping things up is a good idea. Perhaps have smaller groups, snacks if you will, that feature small, simple updates while the main course is being cooked to perfection.  I do understand this would probably mean more manpower would be required however.

Just thinking out loud.
We have LOTS of other things to focus on other than content as well.  There are lots of different aspects to keeping a community running.  I can tell you now there is content being worked on. However we are preparing for lots of stuff and sometimes doing things without taking the time to carefully plan prepare could possibly turn out worse.  That a side I work full time and I have hobbies and LL on top of that gives me very little time to chill.

It's great you guys have such expectations of us, as do we and we will carry on working until we hit the top however, things should not be rush otherwise things such as content can turn out very buggy etc

We've already been looking into players we can fully trust, and the number is surprisingly few. It takes time for one contributor to earn enough trust; just as with an admin promotion, it requires the entire team to vote. There have been so many cases in the past of people betraying trust that it's good to be extra careful. And yes, access can be restricted to certain folders, but anyone with decent lua knowledge can find some way to inject malicious code, so if we don't trust you enough for the entire gamemode then we're probably not going to trust you with one folder.

What one or two of the admins said here isn't entirely accurate. It's more because of a struggle with time and other things rather than bugs that certain updates take a while. I've rarely ever seen bugs due to simple model updates, for example.
I'll refer to a previous post of mine. I believe that it is able to answer a question or two, or if nothing else; give a perspective from the inside:

Quote:We've had a small decline in development, especially after Woods resignation, and Faustie who has to focus on education.

I've been very impressed with Voluptious however, and he's been a mean developing-machine. Voluptious has impressed the entire staff-team with his continuous work and assistance. Burnett is also back and is working on things behind the scene and his work sadly goes un-noticed as he's not attention-horny and very humble.

Since our launch, there's been an incredible amount of work going on to offer the best experience we can. Much of the work is done behind the scene that increases everything from stability to security and etc. We're improving our services every day and it doesn't look like we're going to stop with that for a good while.

I can reveal a bit of admin-information here for the sake of this thread:

For the past month; we've changed and expanded our internal structure a bit and we've designated a small team called "Content" where the task is to bring forward suggestions and ideas from the suggestion-forum and other places. This group proposes balancing in prices, commendation points and etc. This makes it a lot easier for developers to see what they need to do and how they need to do it; thus increasing effectiveness. This is one of a few other internal teams that we've created in order to be more effective and to increase communication within the team.

Thank you developers for your hard and continuous work.
Thank you staff-members for keeping the servers administrated and for taking part in countless discussions and meetings in order to find the right direction for LL to take.
Alright *rubs hands*

Quote:New RP Props - I assume you've already discussed the workshop packs you want from the list prior to being approved, just add them to server and content packs.

Due to some internal cases, only me and faustie can upload things to the content packs. On top of that I dont have the ropes yet on how to sucessfully upload models, but im trying. I also only recently got the abillity to add models (properly) to the live servers, as that requires a live FTP account I did not have. Now that I do I can also do these updates, not only faust.

Quote:Make Wood Cutting Worthwhile! - Just increase the value of wood in code.

Needs discussion since it cant be overpowered, but at the same time cant be underpowered like it is today. Content team needs to discuss this, I dont know why it hasnt been done already

Quote:Furnitures! - Just add models to server and content packs.

Se first response

Quote:Allow Firefighters to Access Locked Vehicles Shouldn't be too much, code is already pretty much there with ram tool.

The potential for abuse here is big. Can we expect people to not break into random cars and steal them? Commendation locked etc.

Quote:Vehicle Improvement: Bus - Pretty sure this'd just be changing a couple parameters and testing it in-game (not 100% though).

Exactly which parameters? How much? What is too little? What is too much? Questions that takes time to fine tune.

Quote:Change NDS Default Female - Models already in place, just change the default job model path.

Quote:Police Evidence/Crime Scene Markers - Just add models to server and content packs.

Going to be added soon, part of a bigger release

Quote:Secret Service: Power to Arrest - Code already in other jobs, just add to this one too.

See above

Quote:Change Cocaine - Change the line of text that shows.

Quote:old president model as a suit - Just make old player model an item, code can be used from other suits.

How much should it cost? Should it be released under another (bigger) pack? Any restrictions on it? Content team needs to discuss

Quote:New fireman player model - Model has been ready for months, just add it server & content packs and change job model path.

Quote:Several days before I left my contributor position it was said that we would receive access to add content ourselves. Seems like the development is really unorganized if it still hasn't been added yet.

Contributors (atleast coders) can already upload stuff, however they can only upload to the beta server, since dev policy states that all content needs to be read through and "signed off" on by a developer (Me, Faust, Temar or TBSOG) before beeing pushed to live.
Okay well ultimately it's up to the LL staff how they allocate their time to updates so before I shut up I'm just going to say that it seems that you guys spend a hell of a lot more time 'discussing' content (don't see any reason at all for it to take as long as it does currently) than implementing the content itself.
To prevent any conflict we like to ensure that the team is 100% before going forward on thing, communication and discussion is very important.
Or instead of relying it on trust, friendship, requirment to apply and wait a long time to get developer rank etc. You could have turned CityRP into a segregated gamemode by now, and make it opensource.

I don't get why the developers gets access to so few things in the gamemode, when roughly 60-70% of it is either shared or client-side, and can be read by anyone.

If you want proper development, then make it easier for everyone to develop, instead of just a select few.
All of your points have been considered.
