During an active firefight at lake I shot a firefighter by accident (He was stood in the area of a firefight and at the time was doing an animation that looked like he was holding a firearm at us - we were being shot from a distance by several people with tranqs. I called EMS immediately. Arguements were made that he had a firefighter skin so I should have known - Citizens can have a similar skin so this made no sense to me.

Bark called a sit and I told him and the person who reported me that it was an accident, the person who reported me insisted it was "blatant RDM" - Shooting someone at the edge of the render distance who looked like they had a gun and was trying to kill me is hardly that. I gave them (The reporter) advice which Bark took offence to and gave me a 3 hour blacklist. Pretty unreasonable for a genuine mistake that I tried to make right IC.

The staff members have received your blacklist appeal, Apex.

It will take a while for it to be reviewed.
Hi Con,

Although it was IC to an extent - any competent police officer wouldn't just spin round and shoot in the opposite direction to the actual threat without identifying who it is first. Lucky shot tbh, and normally something i'd offer advice for.

As you alluded to though what I didn't appreciate was you deciding to start offering "advice" to the reporting player, or in my mind just talking down to them. If you'd just apoligised and left the attitude we'd not be having this conversation. I didn't take offence, trust me it takes a lot more for that... but I just felt someone with your hours, REP and experience would know better, and frankly its the fact you took an attitude that tipped it into a BL than a warning as clearly you're not willing to reflect on your mistakes just yet on that one.

I've asked a couple other staff members to look at this one for me, neutrally, if they believe i'm wrong or unjust so be it.

There were multiple shooters, location unknown. I tried to explain to you at the time that if I had the information we had at the time of the sit I would have made a difference choice - I didn't so I couldn't.

Can't say I didn't accept my mistake, I admitted it happened and told you why. You cant expect me to grovel at your feet when after I explain why its simply met with "yeah but I still didnt like it so you should be punished". In any case my attitude in the sit wasn't what I was punished for.  Further to this you didn't actually make the choice between a blacklist or a warning. You offered that to a player with 19 hours who was clearly upset about how the situation played out.

This isn't and has never been an attack on you as a staff member.

I'd never expect you to grovel - don't worry im not that petty... and i'm not worried about you challenging me as a staff member I just want to make sure I treat you fairly, and as it was a complicated situation and i've only been back a few weeks I want to get a second opinion. Hopefully get back to yous soon

Please see latest edits to the post - mostly regarding "tipping it to a BL". A player with 19 hours made that choice not you.
Im also curious how something that could be a warning can move to a 3 hour blacklist. How do you scale that?
Hi Apex, thanks for your patience on this one as I said I wanted to get other opinions before making any decision. I’ve had Nac have a look at the footage as well and jointly we’ve decided that will give you the benefit of the doubt on this one and remove the blacklist, seeing as honestly. I have no idea how you manage to be that accurate over such a long distance and if you’d missed, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. In future the only advice I can give on this one is if you have shot someone you check who it is afterwards if you’re not entirely sure as possibly the fact you spent three minutes before verifying didn’t contribute well.

Approved, sorry for the misunderstanding Smile
