The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States, and is universally recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. Our main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care and other critical public safety services to the residents and visitors in the five boroughs of New York.

We offer many different job aspects, with many divisions for a firefighter or paramedic to join, providing a unique career path, such as the high rise department, and the medical evacuation transport units, each offering something different to the standard ordinary firefighter work.

We will be working closely to other emergency services in Southside, and hope to have a good standing with the public, hosting open days and attending other events to become part of the community and show that we truly do care about the public, and their safety.

Each new member will start as a probationary firefighter or a student paramedic, during this time you will be expected to learn and improve the skills you have, and once you are ready, you will be promoted to a firefighter or a paramedic, depending on which role you would like to take.

Our firefighters will be doing a training session on the 10th of May 2020.

The training will include how to spot a potential backdraft fire, rescue someone from a burning building, and how to clear room to room to ensure the safety of potential occupants inside a structural fire.

The location has not been decided on yet, but everyone is free to watch the training take place!
