/sit is broken, it works on the console but not in the normal chat. That way we can't use binds for it, or use alt+e.

True that, but I think /sit in the chatbox is the more practical way. Also new players are used to either /sit or Alt+E, which is why the console only method is a bit odd in my opinion.
