Hello everyone!
The note tool is quite old and while useful, has also been extremely limiting and could be so much better. As such, i've been working on improvements for the /note command and i'm happy to finally release the first version to you all. I've modernised it all by adding a fancy GUI with a text editor supporting thousands of characters. It even supports the advanced duplicator tool and document-wide colours, perfect for if you want to write super-detailed SOPs or write a really long love letter. Anyone with prop access is also able to edit the note.
Here's a few screenshots:
This is what is now displayed when looking at the note:
Anyone without prop access will see a stripped down version without the option to edit the text or to save. They can still however change the colour for just them, this won't save though. I just kept this in to improve readability.
If you have any suggestions feel free to leave a reply, DM me on discord or make a suggestion.
I hope you all like it!
I actually would like a legacy version available // I think it’s important to have it able to be viewed without pressing ‘E’ for shop item prices, etcetera

I could perhaps add the option of having a "title" which would display when looking at it as the legacy note tool does?
That’d be perfect
Can you also have a variable note_model and in the UI an ability to have it show a few different options in a DComboBox or something (?) - e.g. standard note, newspaper, book, etcetera and have it change the note_model
Zero knowledge of how that’d be done but customizability of the model would be a big selling point
Looks like a great update, nice to see you've still got your flare Pollux!
Maybe include the option to make a header for the note too, with larger text for the header - for example:

This ^
I use notes for environment clues. Basically /it’s you can read on objects.

Yeah, I'm planning to add the title and the ability to change the model. The title will display when looking over it just how the legacy note does and will be optional.
Maybe a way to make a note that doesn’t show the name of the creator (?) weird making a ransom note or written threat that someone can metagame your name off of
Would like the option to choose different props to use for notes, and have some other, more stylized version. Like a book, that can have several pages, or a folder (Maybe even be able to insert images into some of these.) This would have a lot of uses in events and RP's. (Like a menu that actually shows the menu at a restaurant)
also +1 suggestion

It only shows that as the entity is owned by a player via the prop protection system. It's the same system which shows the name of someone who owns a prop. I guess an exception could be added if it's a note though but I'm not too sure if I can make a kinda big change like this without a suggestion.

Exactly, there are these default hazard notes, but also newspapers and clipboards from the GTA V pack that we can use like Nev suggested.

I've added the title feature and the ability to change the model of the note. It took a while because I was setting up cityRP version that can run in singleplayer to streamline development more.
Doesn't have the best option for models yet, so feel free to suggest some with paths.
