On New Years Eve at around 8:50 PM GMT, a man and a woman in their 50's were stabbed at Manchester's Victoria Trainstation, a trainstation not far from my house. A police officer was also stabbed in the shoulder, and the victim's injuries were treated as serious but not life threatening. One man has been held on suspicion of attempted murder. Counter terrorism police were leading the investigation last night, however, were trying to keep an open mind as to what the motive of the attack was. According to the BBC, The Mirror, and other news sources, the attacker was heard screaming "Allah", along with an anti-Western Government slogan.
The incident is being categorised as a terror-related attack. Thankfully, nobody was killed in the attack.
One man who works at the BBC said he was close to jumping onto the train tracks to get away from the attacker who was only feet away with a "long kitchen knife". A quote from said individual:
Arrivals and departures from the station were delayed for 2 hours following the incident.

Quote:Mr Clack said he first "heard this most blood-curdling scream and looked down the platform". "It looked like they were having a fight, but the woman was screaming in this blood-curdling way. I saw police in high-vis come towards him. He came towards me. "I looked down and saw he had a kitchen knife with a black handle with a good, 12in blade. It was just fear, pure fear."
