Intro
Studying music technology, more specifically a module on synthesis, opens your eyes to the possibilities of designing your own instruments and sounds. This is something I've recently taken a liking to, and have been experimenting with synthesisers in my own time on Ableton Live 10 Suite on my home PC. I quite enjoy this kind of stuff and would love to get the chance to create some unique sounds for Limelight for you all to enjoy. Taking some royalty free sounds from a website that my college pays for a subscription for, and layering them with my own sounds or editing them to create a new sound could generate some awesome ideas.
Idea
For this movement, I'm trying to target the government more specifically. My end goal is to create a library of sounds that I can push to the development team to perhaps get them implemented into the game. Obviously I wouldn't showcase the sounds in a suggestion because of the whole possibility of them being stolen and used without credit. I already have a few ideas for some possibilities, however:
- A new tone for the police radio, a tone for when you press the radio button, and perhaps a tone for when you release it.
- White noise to accompany your beautiful voices when speaking over the radio, to add realism (?)
- A better emergency/panic tone, one that doesn't sound like a hi-lo siren.
- Possibly ambient radio chatter that would emit from the player so others around can hear it
etc...
The sounds are not limited to the police force, but that's what seems to be generating all of the ideas at the moment. Maybe you guys can come up with something for the other departments too.
What I would like from this thread
I would very much appreciate any ideas as replies to this thread, in regards to government noises (sirens, tones, noises, ambience, sound effects, etc.). I would also appreciate it if you took the time to add your input to the poll above this thread.
If anyone would like to know more about how I create my sounds to perhaps test the credibility of my skill, please do ask! I can talk for hours about music technology, sound engineering and the like.
