Myrtle does look like a typical stern woman. Her features always hide any glimpse of emotion daring to slip through the cracks of said stern façade. Her hazel-like orbs will scan every being around her vicinity, perhaps silently judging them from a distance. Her orbs sit in their sockets above her well-defined nose.
Her clear fair skin show no blemishes on them. Perhaps in the summer, then she’ll sport some small freckles around her nose. Other than that, she looks much like a porcelain doll with a thick layer of dark red lipstick stuck on the surface. The dark cherry-based lipstick is one of the feature elements of her visage along with the deep hazel colour of her eyes. The eyebrows sitting right above the orbs are again, well defined and neatly groomed.
Myrtle’s visage is not smudged with make-up other than her lips. Perhaps on a few occasions she’ll add length to her eye lashes by adding a bit of mascara, though only those really looking for it can see such. On long work days she does sport some dark circles under her eyes but surely her perfect smile will divert anyone’s gaze off of them.
The hair of Myrtle reaches medium-length, falling right above the shoulders. Her raven black hair has no curl in them, falling straight down. Her bangs are neatly cut so they don’t hinder her sight should she be working.
Her clothing style is rather dull. She likes to flaunt around darker colours and shuns any colour in her wardrobe except a few dark red dresses that just reach knee-height. The dresses are figure hugging, though not too revealing for she doesn’t sport those curves some ladies do.
Her figure is rather petite, some even dare say boyish. She doesn’t mind however for what she wears, she wears well. Myrtle is quite a few inches smaller than others, though that doesn’t mean she isn’t able to compensate for that.
Myrtle seems to be the person to rather sit at home with a glass of wine than going out on a Saturday. Her favourite past time is to read a book or binge watch a series of documentaries concerning various topics.
She can be seen as rather tedious and easily annoyed by goofy behaviour of others, though only her inner circle can tell she has a childish side to herself that dares to reveal itself on rare occasions.
Myrtle is very precise in her work: research usually takes weeks to complete and surgeries take hours to perfect, without endangering the patient’s life. She takes pride in her detailed work it seems but shall rarely accept a compliment given to her.
Rather than accepting it, she’ll huff and walk towards the next patient.
Such is the way of Myrtle van Houten.
Her family originates from the Netherlands, however, her father moved to Cananda before she was conceived. There, James van Houten met Agatha Brickwell. Myrtle’s mother was a lawyer that helped her father win a case against a patient.
The two fell in love and Myrtle was born two years after her brother was. Myrtle grew up in a loving home though the discipline conducted upon both children formed her to be the person she is today.
Her father was a renowned surgeon and Myrtle made it her destiny to follow in his footsteps, even surpass them. She is well on her way. Myrtle doesn’t take a lot of the credit however, not wanting a lot of attention.
