I have mixed feelings about what you said.
While I've pushed for system enforced features over freeform "do as you will" and the admin will enforce it, sadly the more popular people have shunned nearly every push I've made for that dream.
Like you said tho, about that whole keeping secrets thing, I cannot elaborate more into it. Just know I have a LOT I want to say, I'm simply under an agreement.
The whole downhill shit that a lot of people keep bringing up recently is hot air. People said FL wouldn't last, yet it still stands. People said LL wouldn't last, yet it still stands. There are dynamics that people seem to have forgotten that leads to a shorter sighted vision. Quitting because things are bad isn't helping anything. Same thing with the people who are toxic (admittedly in some cases) but then complain about how everything is toxic.
From my perspective, there are a lot of weak willed people who linger in gmod communities, who'd rather complain than fix it.
I am in no way "lumping" you with that group. I'm just speaking freely and have nothing but respect for you.
The heart of the issue is pretty easy to identify, as everyone shouts about what is wrong all the time, but so few of us have the conviction to do anything about it. I don't know lua, I go to college and am learning java. I've invested time into trying to understand how to convert my knowledge. I may only have done a few things so far, but I at least am making an effort.
Finally, some of the content people want isn't possible, be it because of one reason or another, ranging from engine to server content conflicts.
I'm sad you have decided, like many, to back away and maybe watch everything unfold. We need more people on the line to actually combat the issues. Only thing no one can fix is the behavior of the individuals that make this place far less enjoyable.
Example: "There is no passive rp, this is call of duty rp" *coming from the person who's first choice was to go for the swep rp*
I doubt this will have any impact on your decision to back away, as my words are often wasted around here, but as usual I'm still trying. Through all the shit the community has thrown my way, I still try every damn time. Fingers crossed I win for once.
Long story short, You are one of the fighters. I don't want to see you quit fighting because the situation is bad.
