Fires started near Athens yesterday at about 18:00 have claimed the lives of at least 77 people (as of now reported by local media). There is suspicion of arson, as well as one arrest of someone putting up fires along the highway. Fires were so bad and expanded so fast that people had less than 10 minutes to evacuate. Many died trying escape with their vehicles, others got trapped at the edges of cliffs and burned.

State of emergency has been declared as well assistance requested from Europe. It has also been announced that there will be 3 days of mourning.
I heard about this earlier.
I can't believe they have done this.
Holy crap. That's tragic as hell. I'm pretty sure the arsonist in subject feels pretty shitty, having learned that 77+ people have died as a result of this.
