Restrictions on US broadband providers' ability to prioritise one service's data over another are to be reduced after a vote by a regulator.

The Federal Communications Commission split three to two in favour of changing the way "net neutrality" is governed.
Internet service providers (ISPs) will now be allowed to speed up or slow down different companies' data, and charge consumers according to the services they access.
But they must disclose such practices.
Proceedings in Washington were halted for about 15 minutes after a security alert forced an evacuation of the FCC's chamber.

Campaigners claim the reversal of rules introduced under President Barack Obama will make the internet less open and accessible.

But the FCC's chairman Ajit Pai has suggested the move will foster innovation and encourage ISPs to invest in faster connections for people living in rural areas.

He refers to the change as "restoring internet freedom".

Technically, the vote was to reclassify broadband internet as an information service rather than telecommunications.
The consequence of this is that the FCC will no longer directly regulate ISPs.
Not over yet. Congress is the next vote. They have a shit ton of power to control that bill, including to replace the content entirely. Keep an eye on the situation.
Hoping they fully repeal it.
I really hope this doesn't go through!
I even donated to that popup thing on Limelight.

Clearly you don't visit many sites if you thought that pop-up came from Limelight

I donated to the organization that was advertised. (Which I'm fully aware isn't affiliated with Limelight)

I never said anything about him thinking the pop-up was made by Limelight...?

*came from Limelight* and his initial comment, "donated to that popup thing on Limelight" was written in a way that was, in my opinion, stupid. It's vague, and you wouldn't know what he was referring to if you hadn't seen the popup advertisement yourself. This being said, it's something that appears on literally every page and thus he should've just said the popup and we would've known what he was referring to. Adding that it was "on Limelight" is confusing and could lead some to believe that this was a separate popup, etcetera.

Secondly, is this your brother or a close relative of yours? Or did you have nothing better to do than to defend a random person on the internet lol

This pop-up only appeared on the LL forums for me. Never saw it at any other page.

Tbh why should it even appear on German pages or in Jompes case... on Swedish ones?

Everyone knows what pop-up he's talking about, you're just choosing to be pedantic over the wording of a quick forum post. I was just mentioning it because you were coming across as passive-aggressive for seemingly no reason.
I am sorry for the US. It is a complicated situation. I don't have much to say, but I thought i'd say something, even though it is useless.
You must be fun at parties

I have to say that defending someone you don't know over the internet is still a better use of time than to passive-aggressively attacking someone you don't know over the internet. Instead of worrying about why he chose to defend the guy, why not try to understand what happened that made that guy need any defending in the first place?

OT: Been looking into the potential of this Neutrality issue, paying for specific services is just the tip of the iceberg. Since it won't be telecommunications anymore, federal agencies won't need to go through the FCC to tap people's datalines.
Yo chill its a gmod forum lol
