Today, Oct. 31st, around 3:10 PM a man in a truck rammed a bunch of citizens on a bike path, killing 8. The FBI declared the attack as a act of terror, and the suspect is in custody in the hospital after being shot by police when seen leaving the truck with a painball gun and a pellet gun. The suspect claimed he did it for ISIS.
Part of the CNN article:
Authorities found a note, written in English, claiming the suspect in Tuesday's attack in New York did it in the name of ISIS, a senior law enforcement official told CNN.
The note was found in the truck police said was used in the attack, the source said.
Eight people were killed and almost a dozen others were injured when a man in a rented flatbed pickup drove down a busy bicycle path Tuesday near the World Trade Center, police said at a news conference.
"This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror," New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said, "aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at people going about their lives who had no idea what was about to hit them."
The 29-year-old suspect was identified by two law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov. He is from the central Asian nation of Uzbekistan and came to the United States in 2010, sources told CNN."
According to CNN, the FBI has taken over the investigation and has declared it as a terrorist attack.
The suspect was screaming Allahu akbar as he was leaving the truck used in this act of terror.

Religion of peace my dudes and dudettes
how does he only kill 8 people?
I mean i'm not trying to be funny here, but you go to one of the most densly populated cities in the world, oftentimes with incredibly heavy foot traffic, and you only hit what, 20 people?
Pathetic attempt by a pathetic person.
I know terrorists are stupid but jesus christ, what a failed attempt at martyrdom.

staff members censoring? lol wtf
Can we stop with the unnecessary shitposting and discussions about religion on a news thread about people who have lost their lives in yet another horrible attack? Thanks.
OT: I fully agree with de Blasio on it being another particularly cowardly act of terror. Aimed at innocent civilians, people who were just living their lives without having any idea what was about to hit them. Sad once again.

The problem is you have to say 'yet another'
The fact is that we've become desensitised to this bullshit. You can give all the thoughts and prayers in the world but it won't change a damn thing. Like, could you imagine if the plot of the Lord of the Rings went like this?:
*Théoden has changed his profile picture*
Also, terrorism is downright disgusting but it's not exactly cowardly. Anyone who says that needs to get their head checked, or at least stop using the cliche phrases like a sheep. These guys go in with the knowledge that they will die. The fact it's against civilians is irrelevant to bravery, it's about the message they're trying to send that 'nobody is safe' and it's gonna start getting that way if shit doesn't change.
I researched this one and it stinks. Even discussed with the legal department at my college, same opinion. Not saying it didn't happen, but I am saying that it's about as believable as Lee Harvey Oswald (whom all of his military records show he was a barely passing shooter) taking down JFK, from an elevated position, onto a moving motorcade, whilst also being one of the lowest potential shooters on the list of potentials. The rest of the higher potentials weren't even investigated, and LHO was killed before trial could ever take place.
Or even as believable as the guy they pinned for the Texas Concert Shooting, who had no motive, guns on display in a fashion that isn't conducive with the way the firing taking place, being the guy that did it. Rich, white guy, no history of violence, no financial troubles, no life threatening health conditions, no record of mental illness. He just randomly decided to purchase the Rambo starter kit, shoot at a concert, then wait for hours without laying out more lead that was readily available, nor attempting to combat the team coming for him.
Or the guy that was shot in the back of the head, who was supposedly being robbed, but nothing was taken from him nor his home. Conveniently he had dirt on a politician and a random "mugger" killed him and didn't even take the money out of his wallet, not his watch, not the TV. And was never found, even though there are cameras all over the area that easily could have placed a narrowed list of suspects.
What I believe, is that some of these "attacks" are a ruse to take out threats to one political or financial group or another. Kinda like how 9/11 happened, we went to war over it, and somehow people still believe that foreign terrorists pulled off the job using planes, despite several studies from experts in various fields (Construction, Demolition, Aviation specialists) world wide pointing in the other direction.
I feel sad for the lives lost so that whomever is gaining is gaining, while also giving the bill to someone else.
