No one knows with certainty how or when the Illos Illuminatos was formed. A widely accepted theory among scholars is that it arose from the stonemasons' guilds during the Middle Ages. The language and symbols used in the fraternity's rituals come from this era. The oldest document that makes reference to Illuminatos is the Regius Poem, printed about 1390, which was a copy of an earlier work. In 1717, four lodges in London formed the first Grand Lodge of England, and records from that point on are more complete.
The most recent lodge to join the group is located in Rockford.

It is said that that those who are out in the woods late at night can sometimes see people in masks entering locked down locations, from which one can hear screams of freight and wonder.
Due to the group mostly working behind the scenes and in the shadows, not much is known about the secret society or it's members today, but it is believed that it consists of some of the most powerful men and women in the known world. Members do not seem to apply for their positions, but are instead invited by the grand master himself when someone is considered worthy of the groups attention.
