Whilst the release of C&C wasn't as smooth as I'd have liked, I'd still like to think it went fairly well. We got new content out, and people enjoyed it.

I was going through my YouTube videos, and found a couple of videos from when I was developing certain parts.

The Flashbang
The Flashbang was a pain in the ass to get right. Either the effects didn't work, it looked wrong, or sounded wrong.

The first attempt didn't have the sound, and would fade the screen out, which just didn't look right.

Then we had the second attempt, which had a version of the sound we used, which just cut out. It also had a different sound effect, to that used in the final version.

Then I went to bed.
I got up. At 9:13, I uploaded the next version. I'd changed the effect to the one used in the final version, and tried looping the sound in Lua. I'd fixed the odd visual bug with the toolgun at the start, but it still wasn't ready.

I then changed the sound to fade out before it ended.

So we ended up at the end, with this effect.

Kind if interesting to see how the flashbang developed.
Hats!

A system that was only partially used. The backend of the command wasn't used in the cap items, but other parts were.
Just a fun little thing.

I think it was a step in the right direction.

There was a proper thread, plenty of time spent developing the graphics to best present what was being implemented and this part was very nicely done. That being said, I do think that while there were some nice additions there were also quite a few things that seemed off and/or had issues in game. I think what is important in future updates is an assurance that any content being put out is to the highest quality it can be and ensuring that it is bug-free.

Spray paint can bombs were a nice thought, however they were bugged and not only had issues with third person view-model placement and likely still do, but there was little information as to how they were to be used. It seems like the item itself has a timer on it with 00:01 second left on the clock and there is no way (as we know) to manipulate this time. In essence it is simply a spray paint can grenade.

Other than that I believe the addition of body bags wasn't thought out as much as it should've been. Going around the map and seeing 20 body bags scattered in the streets, bushes, ravines, etcetera is a little unrealistic and I'm just not buying into the fact that no matter how you die your body is neatly packed up into an indestructible body-bag, which also seems more like a duffel bag I'd purchase at REI or any outdoor retail store. I think it would've been best to think out a better system (ie. Having a body turn into human remains [collection of bones] which could then be placed into a body-bag that would act like the storage locker) and also having alternative ways to get rid of the remains, which could be from using the newly implemented Shovel to dig a hole and drop the bones in or even a way to have a vat full of acid to dispose of them. Things like that need to be done properly to ensure that we're getting content that is meaningful and not rushed.

Phone booth is mediocre at best and just takes us a step in the wrong direction. Low level of quality in the UI and a reused low quality prop used. Makes zero sense to me why a person has the ability to contact every single player as if they knew their phone number beforehand. For me, this is just allowing players to obtain IC information through OOC means. The days of just PM'ing someone from looking at the Scoreboard and seeing them as a sales job should be gone.

As much as I like the additional content that isn't just a few new cars, I still believe that there just isn't anything all too game changing. Great work on the Flashbang though. I appreciate the time and effort put into not only developing but also having recordings of the progress you made.

Hmm. You've given me ideas. Currently, primary attack does a 2 second timer, secondary does a 20. I'll look into getting it changed. Not sure how possible it is to get it to show up however.

It's got a bunch of great ideas in it, and I'd like to see them developed further.

Would you mind drafting up a new UI design, something that looks better and sending it to me then please? Makes zero sense to me why a person has the ability to contact every single player as if they knew their phone number beforehand. For me, this is just allowing players to obtain IC information through OOC means. The days of just PM'ing someone from looking at the Scoreboard and seeing them as a sales job should be gone. I see your concern. However, until we change the system where we always know everyone's job, name, birthplace, dog's breed, mother's maiden name and phone number by default, I'm afraid that will have to stay.

I appreciate the time and effort put into not only developing but also having recordings of the progress you made. Thanks :3 The recordings weren't intentional, I'll be honest. I was sending them to the dev/contrib/admin team to get input. I'll agree it's nice to see though. I'll see about doing some more for other stuff I do.

Thanks for your input Nev, taking the time to write up a highly detailed post.

I think he meant what is going on with it right now.
I think the C&C release was amazing. Just reading those updates regarding the map change, and immediately after, the one about the C&C really made my day.

I have a lot of fun playing with the content we have acquired so far and I can't wait for the rest that's being made or fixed right now.

Posting on a old thread which is relevant isn't necroposting. Pointless bumping of old threads is, however.
