Remove free surgery and medicine for people covered by military benefits? That wouldn't work. He banned transgenders since a lot of them were cheating the system into free surgery. No president would fix the issue by removing healthcare benefits for more than those who are cheating the system.
Im talking about removing the "cheating" part. Not healthcare for all military personnel.
Wow this thread escalated quickly.

Why doesn't the state, instead of sucking the rich's ass, use a tax and spend policy to allow anyone to have free healthcare? This would allow everyone to afford healthcare in the same way thanks to the non-flat income taxes?

Oh wait... This is america, land of the free (If you are in the higher classes, if not GFY).
And this is the problem, when you do not employ enough policies to balance wealth (Non-flat income taxes to fund welfare, i'm not talking about USSR-style policies, but enough to fund basic needs for everyone)
And this is why I am thankful I live in the EU.
But as Lyndon B Johnson said:

If you think that the US should have universal healthcare, you obviously have not seen how the VA operates, which is a federal run healthcare system, surprise surprise, it runs like shit.

On the contrary, TriCare, a federally subsidized healthcare which becomes free at 60 years old or after 20 years of active service, works like a dream. I personally have never been denied healthcare anywhere, and there have been little to no out of pocket expenses.
Not to mention, the VA has been horrifically underfunded for a healthcare system.

I'm sorry you don't like the basic principles of capitalism. Socialism and Communism are giving everybody the same access to everything (in a society run by the definition), capitalism is making you work for your money and services. Wealth inequality in the US is not just because you aren't a certain race or because you live in a certain city. There are so many social and economical factors that contribute to wealth distribution. Why do you think Chicago is losing population and poverty rates are growing? It's not because people in Chicago are inherently poor, it's the lack of accountability of effort put into work. Some people work hard and still can't afford food, but a lot of people under the poverty line have drug addictions or don't put any effort into working.
America isn't run by Oligarchs who have political influence. Donald Trump didn't win just because he was rich.
Single Payer healthcare is a terrible idea. It's ruining the principles upon which the country was built. Work for your money and services, don't rely on the government for everything.

Well well well where do we start from... Wealth inequality.
If you're born from rich or poor parents in let's say europe, you still get decent possibilities of having enough education to leap at least to middle class. My father was the son of two clothing washers which lived in poverty, now he is a car salesman. All of this thanks to state subsidised education.
If you think the EU is some kind of fairyland where the poor are not motivated to work, you're wrong. It's actually pretty shit to be poor, and you live on the streets or are forced to deal drugs or steal (Ok, there is a lot of people doing it for profit). You act from the presumption that all is dependent on the individual. Which is false. Is a person responsible for being born in a poor family, not being able to afford education, living on a shit job due to laughable minimal wages, getting sick with lets say cancer? In your twisted and sick opinion of reality probably yes.

The EU is most definitely not some fairyland. The EU is very bad for some countries, and good for others.
A lot of reasons that people in the US are poor are based solely off the individual. They made bad decisions that led to a job that provides minimum wage and part time employment. It shouldn't be the government's job to make everyone part of the middle class and upper class. We need all three classes due to the way industry works. The upper class owns the businesses and the middle class are the consumers that buy the products that the lower class manufacture. If we didn't have social classes, the economy would be way different. Your comment about getting sick with cancer is not very valid. The ages that your career choices are usually most important, 25-39, don't have that high rates of cancer. Most people with cancer are above 45.
My "twisted and sick opinion of reality" is my belief in capitalism apparently. Because I don't believe in giving out free money to people who don't attempt to work, I am a bad person? I'm sorry I'm not a fan of policies that contain influences of communism.

Well I understand a part of your point of view, and I could partially agree with you if all education would be provided in the same way, without counting traumatic events leading to mental sickness, at-birth disability, attention given etc... I meant the EU as a region, but the system is similar in all of Europe, most of Asia, Mexico and Canada, probably Latin america (Hell i'll be less fucked in Cuba than in the US). It seems that you are the only country using this system. I wonder why... In Europe, at least in my school, you get taught the basics of economics and politics. Almost all colleges are state-funded so you usually get different viewpoints inside one.
