For some reason, when I press F1, my sound mutes but my F1 menu does not open. I have binded F1, to open the F1 Menu, but it still won't work. Any ideas on how to get rid of the 'mute' bind, and make it so I can open the menu by pressing F1?

Thanks,
Constrictor.
As I told you earlier, you need to find the make and model of your laptop and then find how to disable the "FN" key aka Function key. Having done that, F1 should return to its actual use.

In laptops F1,F2... buttons double as shortcuts when the FN key is either toggled or pressed.
I can't seem to find a topic on how to disable it..
The laptop that I have is a Dell Inspiron 17 5000 series.
Yea after googling it real quick that laptop has a "Sound Mute" function on the F1 key (which I assume only works if pressed together with the FN key). If yours somehow works without pressing the FN key you should look into disabling those key functions of your laptop or alternatively bind another key to "togglef1".

Here is something I found by quickly googling.

I believe this would be the same for any laptop.

According to this you only require to disable the function keys so as for them to require to press the FN key and then the F1 button to mute everything.
Disabling it should allow you to press F1 and open the menu.

So all you have to do is follow the steps Knight provided and disable the function keys.

Nice job there
Thank you!
I will try this method later on, as I have to do some stuff currently.
