Summary: Received a /request that there was allegedly people in the Industrial area breaking into vehicles at MTL. I respond immediately but take a quick scan around the area of Industrial first before responding directly to MTL. I head to the back of Industrial and see a vehicle parked in an alley and so I patrol down the alley towards the other end and as I stop before turning, an individual whom came out of the warehouse pulled a pistol and began firing on my vehicle before jumping back inside and closing the doors. As I jumped out, you can hear them equipping more ammunition. This incident is blatant baiting. When Mathias brought us all together their defense involved two different claims:
1st Claim - Carfano stated, "I shot in the air didn't thought I shot you"
Video shown below can clearly show Carfano jumping out with his pistol and shooting it at the direction of my vehicle and hitting me. When confronted about this he stated, "I didn't mean to". He then went and said, "I meant to shoot by his side of his vehicle to scare him away so we could flee away so he would not arrest us two cuz I thought u were the one chasing us before." The question arises then... why did he shoot me at all? Did I provoke them to feel threatened? This falls into the second claim he made after the staff situation progressed.
2nd Claim - "I did not want to bait cops we had plans actually... Doing a chop shop, planned to build here."
The second claim goes off on a tangent from the 1st claim where he A) Wanted to scare me off and B) Thought I was a cop that was pursuing them long before. This third one goes off and revolves around them being car thieves setting up a chop shop here at this location. Keyword being setting up. There was no props and they likely had just purchased the doors as I was rolling up. They hadn't done anything illegal to even bring concern. No stolen vehicles, no weapons visible and nothing to make me bat an eye at them, that is of course until he decided to shoot at me to apparently scare me away. I quote him here in his response to Mathias, "Yeah someone chased us, a cop, so I was scarying the cop away and woops I by accident shot his car... then we tried to flee." The issue I have with this statement was that A) Being in a pursuit doesn't give you the right to shoot on sight any police officers, especially when the event happened long before I arrived. B) Shooting a police officer isn't the proper way to handle a situation where you don't want to get caught and C) They never tried to flee. They re-entered their property to equip up.
Evidence: Video - Demo
Excuse the error signs, for some reason they only show up in demo recordings. Snippets are muted because of private conversation IRL.
