Carfano Arrested After Izzies Palace Hostage Attempt

Several gunmen were shot dead and others arrested by police forces in EvoCity after they attempted to take several people hostage at Izzies Palace. Authorities have said that the Carfano family were the ones responsible for today's events.

On Friday afternoon a traffic officer received a tip regarding an illegally parked vehicle outside of Izzies Palace; the officer confirmed that the owners of the building had build themselves a private parking space which was prohibited by current law. An intemperate confrontation ensued after the officer requested for the vehicle to be moved but shortly after his capture police were on the scene.

In an unusual predicament, the President found himself entangled in the hostage situation; a SWAT officer reported that Fibonacci Carfano himself had the President under gunpoint. With SWAT reinforcements, authorities attempted to negotiate a deal with the gunmen. SWAT Sergeant Hampton stated that a civilian, Ben Harper, "was willing to pretend to hand himself over in an attempt to save all the hostages", however, "the negotiation was unsuccessful for both sides". Ben Harper was appraised for his "acts of bravery" during the situation.

"After a smoke grenade was thrown, police breached into the building and located the men and the people they were holding", said the SWAT officers that were on the scene. "All men were either killed or arrested." Although no police were killed and the President was secured safely, one of the hostages was killed when tensions started to escalate. Authorities have confirmed that no suspect had escaped from the scene.

In a statement given by the leading prosecutor on the case, it was said that Fibonacci Carfano was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. However, many speculate that he won't be doing time behind bars...

EDIT: It was wrongly reported that Lucious Carfano was arrested when in fact it was Fibonacci Carfano, the Don of the Carfanos, who was arrested. The error has been corrected to reflect updated information.

EDIT: Rebuttal statement provided by SWAT Officer Marvin Hampton has been reflected on in the article.
